Contraception Cleverness

The other day I was browsing through the online edition of the Winnipeg Free Press when an ad caught my eye. A local cat shelter is having a fundraising dinner to raise money for its spay and neuter program. The name of the event is:

The Spayghetti and No Balls Dinner!

Hee hee! Love it! A quick internet check showed that this is a common fundraiser name used by many Humane Societies but still, it's clever.

And, of course, that fundraising is for a great cause. Spaying and neutering our pets helps to stop countless unwanted litters of puppies and kittens from having to be euthanized. We should all be responsible pet owners!

And, may I just point out --

Ceiling Cat is not backward like SOME deities who forbid the use of contraception in any form or under any circumstances, leading to misery, poverty, disease, death and oppression on a grand scale. Blessid bee da Ceiling Cat!

Love it! Working in dog rescue I've seen some good "titles" promoting spay and neuter. The best was "balls are for throwing". Love it!

WHY is it necessary to remind people to do this?!?!?!?!?!

Why?

Why?

Why?

Why is it necessary to remind people, of common sense?

we have a dreadful problem with 'feral' cats here in the mountains.. where people have just dumped unwanted litters into the bush.. some survive and truly become feral.. killing native animals to survive.. then the cats are trapped and euthanized.. which is sad ~ and also dangerous for the park rangers that have to trap them.
I just don't understand why people don't get their cats neutered.. there was a push to actually register cat ownership, microchip each animal and compulsory spaying/neutering unless a registered breeder. which I think is a good idea. so many cat owners here are irresponsible!

[thanks tons for your constant support. every morning I wake up and there in my inbox is a comment on my blog from you.. it helps me get through this waiting period xo]

Where did you find Ceiling Cat!? Is this your invention? I love it!!! Consider me converted ;-D

Don't get me started about spaying / neutering. Just this afternoon I encountered a person (with whom I'm vaguely acquainted) who was complaining about the two *recently acquired* kittens that he has with his girlfriend ... as well as a dog ... and a 5-year-old son ... and a baby on the way. Guess who this guy wants to get rid of?

*Ding!* -- Yes, the kittens!! ... who are both unneutered males. I'd take them in a heartbeat ... but cannot ... so I walked away determined to think up some way to get through to this guy the fact that kittens aren't toasters that you kick to the curb when they no longer "work" ...

About that sticker? -- Now there's a ribbon I'll happily put on my bumper.

Jaliya, I wish I could take credit for Ceiling Cat but I can't! Ceiling Cat is the Deity of the lolcats on icanhascheezburger.com. Ceiling Cat is locked in eternal struggle with his nemesis, Basement Cat, who used to be his BFF but then they had a falling out. You know, "the old, old story."
