Red Book, Black Book, Pure Book, Dirty Book

If you know that this post's title is NOT a Dr. Seuss rhyme, then you play canasta!

My Rare One LOVES to play cards, especially canasta. She taught me how to play shortly after we first met. I like canasta too but MY GAWD it's a long game -- two hours to play a full four hands. So when My Rare One and I indulge in a little canasta after supper, we simply play one hand per evening so we only spend half an hour at a time doing it. We can wait four evenings to see who the winner is. We're not in any rush.

I'm hopeless at card games, but Mr SK loves them. The only thing missing from that table is a bottle of Gin - that would make it more fun for me.

That picture is adorable. My future will probably not look like that however, unless I go to Patience School between now and then.

I've never played canansta but we do sometimes play hand and Foot which I believe is like a half-assed version.

I have no idea how to play canasta, and unfortunately, no one in my immediate circle has the patience for long card games. Except Brandon. But he's more of a poker guy.

My parents are DEFINITELY having more fun than me down in sunny Florida with their card playing friends:-)

Our new game is virtual bowling on xbox kinect, when i'm having a strong day. Drives the dog crazy, she cannot figure out why we keep throwing "nothing" when she would be very happy to chase "something."

We also like dominos:-)

Squeee! I love Canasta, and Shanghai Rummy!! No one to play cards with here since we moved from California. It is a long game, but with a group of semi-looped people, who cares?!! lol!!

Card games have always been difficult for me to learn. Except for solitaire! LOL :0)
But I can remember many of the women that my Mom (while I was growing up) knew would dedicate a whole day to a Canasta game. Their Husbands and families were left "to fend for themselves" until the game was concluded!

Sadly, when it came to card games, unless I had the video game, I never learned to play the card game. Kind of defeats the point, doesn't it.

canasta brings back some of the rare few memories of happy times with my parents..who when sober were smart and funny and rocked..when they drank, they just hit each other with rocks..
sober we'd play canasta..Oh man I loved it..we all 3 cheated like pros..by the end of the game we were falling on the floor laughing. I must have been 5-6..and remember talking about the Dodgers and the Yankees, and sports in general..and cheating at cards...thanks for bringing that memory back.

There ya go! sounds like a grand idea. I used to play canasta but have forgotten how. I remember how much fun my cousins and I had playing it when I was in high school.

Can't say that I've played Canasta. I am a very aggresive euchre player though. Have fun!

I love card games. Whenever my father-in-law visits (he's 85!), hubby and I play cards with him (his favourite game is rummy 500). I wonder if he knows this game. I've never heard of it, but it sounds like it would be fun.

This picture is so funny! I played Canasta once upon a time, and yes it was with my grandma. (I am pretty sure she used to cheat.)
My favourite is Rumoli. We play until our hands are black from handling pennies.
