Happy Canada Day!

Oh, is it our National Day again?
Time to wave the flag!

The question of Canadian identity has long seemed
to be somewhat of an enigma --

But no! We Canadians know exactly who we are!

Canadians always think that Americans ask
the stupidest questions about Canada, like this one --

But yes, yes, that is exactly how we elect our leaders.
So who's stupid now?

Americans know what's what.

Oh yes, our beautiful universal health care system,
free via our taxes to all Canadians!

But we still save costs wherever possible,
like in Quebec during maple syrup season --

However, most Canuck babies are born in hospitals.

But sometimes Canadians short-circuit the procreative process
by using one of these Canuck Condoms instead.

Hmm, what else is there about Canada?
Oh yes, let's not forget winter.

And speaking of Timmy's --

Don't underestimate Timmy's importance to us.

Apart from the usual coffee-related crime sprees, however,
most Canadians are polite and law abiding.

And sometimes we're leaders in both law and religion!

Of course, Her Royal Highness the cat
wishes everyone a happy Canada Day too!

Oh, thought I couldn't work superheroes into this post?
Well, think again!

Oh c'mon! Doesn't everyone secretly want to be Canadian?

right now, millions of us wish we were canadian so that we could be proud of justin trudeau instead of having to hang our heads in shame over the orange assmonkey.

To the last question... Yes! We have actually lied and told visiting Brits here that we didn’t want to talk to that we were Canadian ... and not American (as in the United States of). We try to keep that our (shameful) secret. I even told one obnoxious type that I was Spanish, since he initially heard me speaking Spanish to someone else and he was making derogatory comments about Spaniards.

Lol. Have a great day, Debra.

Happy Canada Day. I would love to be a Canadian. I am especially enthralled with Fort Langley in British Columbia.

Happy Canada Day! That is a cute post about its identity. So much nicer than us. Those condom wrappers are so fun. Great interpretation of that ridiculous bible verse!

LOL, Canadians seem to feel as strongly about Tim Horton's as folks in the Philly 'burbs and South Jersey feel about Wawa. My kids and husband will wax poetic about how their hoagies are the best and their coffee is far superior to other quick stop places.

The closest I've been to Canada is Deer Isle Maine, though I think Prince Edward Island actually isn't all that far from here. That's plenty cold for me. I do want to visit some day though. You Canucks definitely have a bunch of things right! We Americans should pay attention.

@ DEZMOND -- Oh yes, I've seen moose and I've eaten moose meat. The last moose I saw was at the side of the road in a little stand of trees near North Battleford, Saskatchewan. I am terrified of hitting one on the highway. It's often fatal for the driver because the moose's long legs mean its body comes through the windshield.

@ coffeeintheporchwithme -- We are going to see the Vikings exhibit at the Royal Alberta Museum today. All sorts of artefacts (including a ship) on temporary loan from Denmark. Then later, we'll watch the fireworks from a friend's downtown balcony.

Having a difficult time picking my favorite. Of course why pick and choose, just enjoy them all. I will be sharing a few of them. Have a Happy Canada Day. Are fireworks included?

Happy Canada Day to you. (Oh and I don't want to start a controversy on your National Day, but I never liked Tim Hortons. Its appeal must be an Anglo thing, my wife absolutely loves it.)

I bought some figs today, so I'm testing out a fig old fashioned recipe I've been dying to try. It uses a touch of balsamic vinegar in place of bitters, and a bit of maple syrup. Is that Canadian enough to celebrate the day?

Hello Debra, I knew all those Pride posts had to be building up to something special. Happy Canada Day!

p.s. Cleveland is kind of on the Canadian border, so at least we get some Canadian vibes, along with the cold and snow.

And a belated Happy Canada day to you!

Happy Canadian Day! Can I pretend I'm Canadian? Because for the last 2-1//2 years, I've sure thought about it. I'm just too damn old at this point...and besides...it's too ferking cold for me up yonder. On the other hand...there's that Tim Horton place awaitin'...hmmmmmm.

Oh no, that Canadian ultrasound...now my co workers will show me their ultrasounds and I will think of that, and start giggling...it will be all your fault! Blame Canada! HA!

Happy Day after Canada Day, Debra!
Keep the celebrations going. You'all do it right, nicely, and safely. (I enjoyed Canada Day on the waters near Victoria one year.)
Cheers.

Brilliant, Debra! Sorry I missed this on the first; I was hiding under a blanket asleep. I hope you and your Rare One had fun. Of course a Canadian says "Thank you!" for every door a person holds open for him or her. But after two or three, a Canadian would race to the next door and hold it open in return. I, too, have seen moose, eaten moose, and am terrified of a moose jumping out on the road in front of me. You wouldn't like driving in Newfoundland. It's crawling with moose. And Timmys!

Americans ask stupid questions because Americans are stupid. That's why trump is our president. Only Americans would give more votes to Hillary Clinton and end up with trump as a so-called president.

Love,

True confession: I came to your blog from Blessings of a Stay at Home Mom based only on the hand warmers on your avatar! I do love to knit, and I need to knit some handwarmers for winter!

I'm from Missouri, USA, but I really got a kick out of your post. Thanks for sharing!

You found lots of good ones, but I think my fave is the snowy bathroom(lol) I visited Canada many, many years ago, and had a blast. Back then, I only had to use my birth certificate and license to travel. Hope to visit again one day. Hugs, RO
