What comes to mind when I think of an emotional national anthem is the famous scene in Rick's Cafe in the movie, Casablanca. In it La Marseillaise breaks out spontaneously and effectively drowns out the German Uber Alles. Now THAT anthem, to me is stirring and inspiring. Every time I see that scene, it brings tears to my eyes. The words are eloquent, but I just can't see the cumbersome American National Anthem evoking the same response. It just isn't singable to the average voice.

America the Beautiful would be a much better choice, methinks.jadedjhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16569736113526368917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4666990364305390259.post-32918799709095479552014-09-14T11:52:40.660-06:002014-09-14T11:52:40.660-06:00It is a great anthem...and I've always loved t...It is a great anthem...and I've always loved the Russian one too!Jennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09829127758663992087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4666990364305390259.post-86417261931290205722014-09-14T09:49:39.188-06:002014-09-14T09:49:39.188-06:00I don't think I've ever heard American ant...I don't think I've ever heard American anthem... not that I have any wish to do so :) DEZMONDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14127166104359407763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4666990364305390259.post-40883005688672326132014-09-14T09:48:41.792-06:002014-09-14T09:48:41.792-06:00I love our anthem even if it's the hardest son...I love our anthem even if it's the hardest song to sing ever.and I love oh Canada...
and I'm almost 71 and I have never been able to sing the anthem with out crying at the end...being a brat I think I have more of a understanding of our anthem and the flag.being raised into other states and countries..sometimes that was the only thing that was from 'home'...yellowdoggrannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14906624317290990109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4666990364305390259.post-57537894806611500552014-09-14T08:13:22.125-06:002014-09-14T08:13:22.125-06:00Thank you.
