My Rare One never ceases to amaze me with her artistic endeavours. One of her latest is creating miniature bird houses. She buys little unpainted wooden bird houses from Michael's, then meticulously paints them and handcrafts special miniature features to enhance them. The above photo shows her first four creations. She was on kind of a maritime kick at the time.
The next photo shows some of her miniature items in detail -- this seaside shed's ship's wheel, hinges, float and propeller! Don't they look realistic? The ship's wheel was made out of a yogurt container, the hinges were painted on the original plain door along with the board lines, the float is a marble with netting made of braided thread, and the propeller came from the bottom of a plastic Coke bottle.
Then she started creating miniature flowers! This birdhouse was made for her sister who loves to garden.
And now My Rare One has completed a special bird house just for me! I'll show it to you in Friday's post.

Oh. My. Gaaaawwwd!
Gimme. Now. So pretty! So creative! So colorful!
That last one is adorable. They could be shown off on their own. It seems almost a pity to put them out for the elements to ravage.
I love them all!
I don't know if you remember, but last year I decided I'd have a birdhouse in my little garden (I remember posted about it) and I even made a video of a little bird who went to live there. I loved it and this year I think I'll have at least two more. Hopefully as pretty as these. Bet the birdies would appreciate them. I do.
She did a great job.
XOXO
Wow, amazing work,
OMGOSH! Those are wonderful creations. I love them. I used to collect birdhouses but with this last move I only kept 3 or 4 of them. The ones she has done are real works of art! She should open an Etsy shop and sell them! xo Diana
these are wonderful! okay....is yours a beehive or a superhero?
OMB, how creative! and earth-friendly too! maddie would probably LOVE one of these. and your rare one DOES make those highly-detailed ukrainian eggs...
Those birdhouses are really cute, especially the miniature lighthouse! Your Rare One's use of marbles as fishing floats is genius. Can sparrows or wrens actually use them, or are the houses purely decorative? Now you've got me wondering what your birdhouse will look like...and how it will be HRH proof, LOL!
Nice work, very creative. But will the miniature birds really appreciate all the work and detail?
My birds would approve!!!!!! I especially like the one with the little yellow doors.
These are so sweet! What a fun hobby :)
Just a clarification -- these are purely decorative, meant to be displayed indoors only. My Rare One does have a real bird house outdoors, though, and last year a little wren made it her home!
@ jaz@octoberfarm -- Either would be appropriate!
What a fabulous imagination she has, and what a way to put it to use. Start selling those things!!
These are all so gorgeous and the detail is amazing, I love every single one! I can't wait to see the one especially made for you!
Those are amazing! Can't wait to see Friday's post.
I'm a pushover for anything miniature, and these are charming. I particularly like the house with flowers! Thanks for showing us.
The marble was creative enough, but how on earth could she have made that netting, especially so even?

DAYUM!! She is talented. These are so cute and sweet. I bet any little bird would be proud to live in one of these.
@ Parnassus -- She has the patience of Job and meticulously braided threads together. I would have run screaming from that task in about 30 seconds.
These are all beautiful! That's a lot of talent, creativity, and patience. I'm very impressed! Can't wait to see what she's made for you.
These are AMAZING!!!
Beautiful work, meticulous, realistic and perfect!

These are wonderful, Debra! Your Rare One is talented and creative! I especially like the seaside shed! Thanks for sharing.
Cool looking sheds. You know, with those holes in the gables, birds are going to get in them.
These are adorable! Your Rare one is very talented.

Holy birdhouses batman! They are so lovely. The details are amazing and I love her creative use of recyclables.
Please tell me yours has Bees on it!
So cute! Might be the right size for hummers - just a thought.
Great reuse of the various items from the trash or recycling. I find miniatures fascinating.
We've got one small birdhouse, but not really a miniature one. We bought it in a fayre. Wolfie painted it.
These are amazing! What attention to detail she has, not to mention patience and crafty skill. Looking forward to seeing yours...
Those are seriously cute!
These are all beauties! I love the bright colors and creative touches. Your talented Rare One is very whimsical which makes you a perfect pair!

Merry Christmas, to you and your Rare One! Big Hugs!
How sweet - I am sure she made something special for you!
I had to go to the fridge and look at a Coke (actually a Pepsi) bottle to see exactly how it could be turned into a propeller. Very ingenious.
Such beautiful work! The propeller is genius!!! I love all the little bird houses, so well done by your Rare One! Hoping the one she made for you is a beehive. :)
Seeing the creativity used for these creations, I think your Rare One would be very good at making miniatures for dollhouses!
Those are pretty impressive bird houses. Your Rare One has a lot of talent. I would guess that there is also a lot of patience involved.
These are all so dang cute!!
I love it when people make something out of something else.
These are amazing. Love em!
