We're Calling In The Big Guns Now

It's been 32 long years since a Canadian hockey team last won the Stanley Cup. But Canada has a new strategy this year, namely --

Divine Intervention by the Hockey Gods themselves!

Canadian-owned multinational restaurant chain Boston Pizza has launched an hilarious ad campaign with restaurant tie-ins and promotions, including:
  • Hockey God bobbleheads, available at local Boston Pizza restaurants.
  • media kits, with Hockey God prayer candles, holy rink water, holy pucks, and prayer cards designed to bring playoff luck home.
  • social media content featuring prominent hockey fans tapping into the power of the Hockey Gods to rally a win on home ice.
Here in Edmonton, there is also:
  • a Sistine Chapel-inspired mural (see below -- worthy of Michelangelo himself, LOL) and
  • game-day mullet makeovers for fans at the Fan Park (mullets are also known as "Hockey Hair" because their "short top and sides" fit under a hockey helmet without sacrificing "the party in the back" of long hair.)
According to Boston Pizza, the campaign will run "as long as the Hockey Gods are with us."

  5. Too funny. We rooted on Montreal last night, 2 to 2 until overtime. Good Luck Canada. I love how creative the pizza shop was and bet they get lots of good business because of it, and hope the enthusiasm carries into the hockey rink.

  7. This is GREAT. I laughed out loud when the God of the Gold Posts demonstrated she's not to be taken lightly.

  8. 🤣 I hope the hockey gods do the trick!! Kudos to BP for great marketing! I regret to inform you that Boston Pizza tried and failed here in El Paso, TX! When it opened in 2020, Hubby and I fully expected that location was going to kill it.
BP was one of the earliest businesses in a planned upscale entertainment development. The freeway exit that was going to lead people there never materialized and COVID delaying other business building nearby kept customers from approaching it. Not the first time El Paso moved at a sloth's pace and things fell apart. That's good for me because I live a sloth life, but businesses can't survive it! 🦥🤭

  13. Yes, yeah Boston Pizza! And come on guys. Do it for the world this time. We are with you all the way past the final goal post.

  14. LUV Boston Pizza's Hockey Gods ad campaign! The God of Goaltenders did nullify an Anaheim goal, but then must have passed out at the bar because the Ducks beat the Oilers 7-4. I'm putting my faith in the Walleye Gods from here on in, LOL!

  15. First off, I hope they break the 32 year period of no Stanley Cup. That's a long time. Second, I'm glad they didn't use the Jesus image like our Tangerine Twat did. He probably didn't want to wear horns.

  16. Just wait until they meet up with the St. Louis Blues... Oh wait... nevermind.

  17. 32 ans, nous avons attendu trop longtemps. Scandaleux, tant le hockey sur glace est un trait national. ❄️🏒

Now all we need is a Massachusetts-owned Toronto Pizza.

  21. I kind of expected toques and flannel for the hockey Gods. May they shine upon you this season!

  23. To this day I have never understood this mania for hockey. With that said I would love to see the Canucks win if only to make The Felon upset.

  24. I've only seen one ice hockey game, it's massive here in Sheffield, the Steelers are always well supported. Not even sure if we have a national team.
