I'm taking part today in
Monday Murals hosted by Sami.
Here in my Edmonton neighbourhood there is
an Artist Run Centre called Harcourt House
containing an art gallery, artist studios, and
art education via classes and workshops.
One of its long corrugated metal walls has
a wonderful limited-palette mural
depicting the Centre's various rooms,
including a janitorial closet with
a mop and trolley bucket!
Since it's so hard to capture
the entire long mural in one photograph,
I'm posting four photos of its sections
in order from left to right.

A beautiful geometric mural.
ReplyDeletelove it!
ReplyDeleteWonderful 🤩
ReplyDeleteWow! That's incredible!
ReplyDeleteSometimes the hardest thing to paint are the simple things because you always want to add more and more.
ReplyDeleteI love that simplicity in these.
It's great that the janitorial closet with a mop and trolley bucket was included!
ReplyDeletethe mural looks interesting and very unique i must say
ReplyDeleteyou captured it beautifully !
i like cities where there is lot for artists to participate :)
That's great. Here we're very short of walls, but I did see outlines of a mural in progress at a local shopping center with new buildings. Flowers. We'll see how it goes. Our first local mural!
ReplyDeleteOh that's fab! What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThat mural is spectacular! The limited palette works well. I enjoyed discovering the various elements and shapes!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant !
ReplyDeleteLove it.
ReplyDeleteHere, the city seems to be doing its best to price the artists right out of the arts district that they created.
I find those murals to be somehow delightful. They almost remind me of the illustrations Lois Lenski did in the Small books.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't figure out what the shapes on the extreme lefts side of the mural were until I read your description; they're easels, of course!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool. It must have taken a long time to get this one done.
ReplyDeleteArt Center. Well, I did recognise the easels.
ReplyDeleteI love the style, Debra.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful. I’d want to live in your neighborhood, except for the weather!
ReplyDeleteThat is downright beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove this extra long mural! How clever! Strong graphics and a limited palette convey so much. What are the little googly eyed creatures in the upper left of the last panel?
ReplyDelete@ e -- Your guess is as good as mine! Gremlins?
DeleteNow that's a mural to be awed by. Making straight lines is not easy in paint and the mural itself is just fun! Great post, Debra ...

How nice, Debra.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that an Art Centre would choose such a utilitarian mural. The colour palette is rather sombre, but then, maybe the neighbouring buildings are too, LOL.
ReplyDelete@ Tundra Bunny -- I guess they wanted the mural to be eye-catching without being lurid.
Deletevery cool.
ReplyDeleteThis mural is so well done
ReplyDeleteHi Debra, I love clever! Can the person who mans that mop and bucket come over to my place?
ReplyDelete--Jim
@ Parnassus (Jim) -- For enough money, I'm sure s/he would moonlight!
DeleteOh, this is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteSo Meta, also!
Art is what? FUNDAMENTAL!
XOXO
Keeping the colours limited really has made it pop.
ReplyDeleteHow unique.
ReplyDeleteCool! I hope to visit here soon.
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing mural. I really like it! Hope it was a super Monday.
ReplyDeleteSimple, elegant and descriptive. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteI like the geometric patterns and limited colours of this mural. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Debra.
