Tabouli Salad for EVERYONE!

At the end of our labyrinth's first summer, a vegetarian friend came over, harvested all the parsley and took it away. For tabouli salad. Endless, endless tabouli salad. Anyway, she told us that parsley has a two-year life cycle and that it would come up again the next summer without reseeding. Great!

And the parsley DID come up again in Year Two. But this time it was not lush and full. Our labyrinth walls were patchy. They had embarrassing bare spots. We tried to fill them in with more parsley seed but it didn't grow well.

We became disillusioned with parsley.

But then My Rare One had a brilliant idea. Screw parsley! Round white river rocks are the way to go! So we went rock hunting. We fetched and carried. Carried and fetched. Ripped out parsley. Put in rocks.

Wow! Turned out pretty nice, we think. And once it was done, low maintenance too. Sweet!

Tomorrow -- a guided labyrinth walk!

  4. Low maintenance - YEA!! It's a good thing you didn't let the parsley go to seed because you might've had parsley coming up in the walkways. Parsley seems to run rampant for me.

    This Labyrinth served two purposes - to give you a good workout with some weight training and then you could meditate as you walk off the sore muscles. {{giggles}}

  9. That salad looks scrumptious, and I do love your labyrinth. I see your backyard is fairly private. I couldn't imagine doing that in mine. Maybe one day I will have some privacy. Can always hope.

  10. I love Tabouli with lots of fresh mint leaves. I'm having so much fun sauntering in the garden with you. It reminds me of the book "The Secret Garden" I loved as a child.

  16. Wow! It is very dramatic against the color of your soil, and the pattern stands out even more than the parsley. I love it!

    Are you going to make or buy some "significant-to-the-both-of-you" stepping stones to put in different corners or rooms of the labyrinth?

  22. Hi Intuitive Goddess -- There will be more pix of the rock labyrinth tomorrow, but no pix of the garden "as garden." I don't know that I ever took any photos of all the veggies that used to grow there!
