Hooray! Pride Month is here!

Welcome to this blog's third annual blockbuster of a festival which I modestly call:

TRANSLESBIGAYAPALOOZA!

Yes, for the entire month of June, we'll be celebrating all things LGBTQ in a light-hearted extravaganza of rainbows, glitter, leather and lace! Because what is being queer all about anyway except having fun? Fun, fun, fun until Daddy takes the T-bird away! Woo hoo, butches and bitches, start your engines!

  3. Here in Michigan, they have one huge parade, followed by an even larger street festival in the state capital, complete with commitment ceremonies being held on the capitol steps.

I still remember years ago, when my daughter was in her first year of college, had a very upsetting end to her first relationship, was just coming out to a few people, and felt like she was the Lone Ranger. My hubby and I talked her into going with us to the Pridefest. I never mentioned it to her, but the look on her face, when she saw all of those hundreds of people taking part, being supportive, and having an absolutely wonderful day, still makes my eyes all misty. That one moment made her realize that she was completely human.

Fast forward. .today, she has lots of friends that love and respect her, and 7 years ago, brought another daughter into my life, whom I absolutely adore.

Occasionally, I think about those early days, and even before, when my daughter kept all of her inner turmoil to herself. .I never want anyone to have to go through that. Recently, a niece came to them, out of the blue, saying that she needed to talk. .and I told the girls how great it is that they were there for her, and that she felt comfortable in coming to them. So yes! it is time for celebrating! Let the glitter fly!!

  4. I hope I don't have to wear a leather costume for this festival :))))
    Is SpongeBob a gay? :)

Will you have a post on celebrity gays? There are so many lovely ones among them whom we adore Portia De Rossi, Luke Evans, Lee Pace, Wentworth Miller, Derek Jacobi, Ian Holm ....
