Winnipeg's Drummer Boy

Have you seen this great video yet? It's in the process of going viral on YouTube. Not only is it a wonderfully fresh, modern take on that old Christmas carol Little Drummer Boy, it was created by a 16 year old Winnipeg high school student named Sean Quigley. He skipped school one day last month to make this video.

Sean arranged the music, played every instrument, drummed and sang, as well as directed, shot and edited the video. His youthful enthusiasm and talent just leap off the screen! And who else but a crazy Winnipeg teenager would be out in the snow wearing shorts and no parka!

I also love that the City itself is featured in the video -- Charleswood, Assiniboine Park, the Forks, the Riel Esplanade leading to St. Boniface, and of course that last shot of Sean drumming against the downtown skyline. And in true Canadian multicultural tradition, Merry Christmas greetings appear on signs throughout the video in several different languages.

  1. Amazing! A very talented Canuck. I love that he added the multicultural aspect to it. And I laughed out loud that he's wearing shorts! Makes me think of the teenagers I know around here that go around all winter with a hoodie. You gotta love that young (Canadian) blood!

  2. Wow! That kid has a future. .creative & talented, and resistance to the cold. .you can't forget that!

    Cool arrangement, and cool video!!

Him wearing shorts reminds me of kids around here. .6 feet of snow, and they are still wearing their flip-flops! But I shouldn't say anything. .I seem to remember a high-schooler who refused to wear boots to school, because is was SO uncool. . and wore what we called "skimmers". .VERY flat, VERY thin soled shoes. .this was before girls were allowed to wear any sort of pants to school. Only panty hose, knee socks, sweat or bobby socks covered our legs. So this kid's legs will be just fine! lol

  14. Talented kid! Guess you Canadians aren't affected by a little snow, which would explain the shorts!
