Woohoo! My favourite part of the NHL hockey season is here -- the Stanley Cup playoffs! I always try to cheer for a Canadian team but unfortunately, the Vancouver Canucks and the Ottawa Senators were both defeated in the first round. So I don't know who I'll cheer for now. I'll wait until the last two teams are contending for the Cup and then pick one.
All fans know the special pain that comes when your team is eliminated:
I especially like this ad's nod to the recently returned Winnipeg Jets by having that poor heartbroken little bastard wear their jersey. Jets fans are the most die-hard true blue fans in the league, that's a fact!
OMG!!! I love that ad and it is SOOOO true!
ReplyDeleteDoes seem odd having the playoffs w/o a Canadian team present. Like it's just not quite right. Since all my fave teams are out, I guess I am rooting for the Flyers, but don't know how that will pan out....
Here's to Hockey Luv!!!
XXOO~~
Anne
I'm not a hockey fan at all but from my crazy FB friends I'm guessing one of the teams is from the N.E.?
ReplyDeleteYes, the New Jersey Devils are lookin' GOOD!
ReplyDeleteYou disappeared yesterday but now you're back!!!! No hockey in my family, but enjoy! L
ReplyDeleteWhat a great ad! Our Buffalo Sabres aren't in it, so we too our somewhat torn as to who(m) to root for. Briere on the Philadelphia Flyers, former Sabre, is Canadian. Of course aren't half of all US teams Canadian,eh?
ReplyDeleteNot much of a hockey fan, but isn't the New York team in this as well?
ReplyDeleteMary
Love the Jets! When they (and I) were in Wpg I didn't miss a game! Next year we'll have a Canadian team in the playoffs but for now we'll just chose the American team with the most Canadian players.
ReplyDeleteAlas, the Avs did not make it to the playoffs. Again! :0(
ReplyDeleteBut how well I remember the first Stanley Cup that they won! I was over the moon when that happened!
this ad is perfect! i too feel the pain!
ReplyDeleteI'd be rooting for the Bruins! Are they still in it? I heard that Debra!
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a hockey fan, but hoping that the Flyers will take game 4 in their series with the Devils.
ReplyDeleteI too feel your pain, but hey, what about the Memorial Cup? the Niagara Ice Dogs are almost there!!!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Debs!!!! I HAVE MUCH catching up to do, but thankfully your just returned yourself!!!! And what is this thing hockey you speak of???? Is that so kind of accent? LOL!
ReplyDeleteDrop the gloves...its hockey playoffs!! Go Kings!!
ReplyDeletelol lots of hockey in our house too! My husband played high school, college and got a contract for the Detroit Redwings. But we also have alot of football, baseball, basketball and golf in our house. lol
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched much hockey in years. I was bummed when they killed our local minor league team
ReplyDeleteI've been watching basketball, don't even know if the stars are still in it.
ReplyDeleteGoooooooaaaaaaaaalllllll! :D :D
ReplyDeleteGreat ad!
ReplyDeleteCheer on the Capitals. I was a classmate of the goalie's mom and every good Saskatchewan boy deserves a Stanley Cup.
Love the Hockey Night in Canada announcers! Watching Philadelphia - New Jersey right now
ReplyDeleteHaving that problem of not knowing who to cheer for in Boston too . . .
ReplyDeleteDidn't know "I'll Have Another" was Canadian! That's very exciting! Thanks for stopping by too!!!
Hope you have a wonderful week!
Oh - so true!
ReplyDeleteRight now though, I get to cheer for my Penticton Vees while they are in Sask trying to bring home the Royal Bank Cup. We think our little local team is the best in Canada - but there is a daiquiri with my name on it to soothe the hurt if they lose. (And two waiting for me if they win!)
