Karaoke Memories, Part 2

About 10 years ago, My Rare One and I attended a friend's great 50th birthday party. She had rented the premises of the Old Bastards Club in the Edmonton Armouries for the occasion and what a blast we all had! Lots to eat and drink and then . . . karaoke!

My Rare One and I, along with a couple more friends, did our best Supremes imitation of this song, including their classic choreography --

Just call me Miss Ross!

But the true karaoke highlight of the evening came later, when one of our friends who is a professional singer sang "Unchained Melody." You know what a barnburner of a song that is and man, she gave it everything she had! We grabbed the candles off the tables and held them up along with any lighters we had, all swaying together for her moment of concert greatness, LOL!

Yes, we all had brain cramps the next morning. Why do you ask?

  1. Karaoke isn't for me... I couldn't carry a tune in a tin bucket!

  2. Can't carry a tune, but was surprised when I saw a yearbook photo that I was in the folk singing club. Don't even remember it, but I guess I could sing back then.

  3. I love that you call hangovers "brain cramps." Those who do the choreography win karaoke. Well done.

  13. Karaoke is something I avoid, because no croaking frog has ever recorded a hit song. My Chinese student and her friends love it. Apparently it's huge over there.

    Viennent chanter,
    comme des pieds
Pour un cinq minutes de gloire.

  23. Karaoke, girlfriends, and a little something to drink (or just some chocolate) - that's the way to party.

  30. Hey Debra,

    How's it goin', eh?

I know all about brain cramps. My last two brain cells are in agony.

I visualise you doing Karaoke to something by Loverboy!

  32. Was a bit drunk and was talked into getting up ad performing a song.... Thus, proving to everyone that Stacey cannot sing...
.... My best Karaoke memory is after attending the Comic-Con (Hero-Con)...
it was Carmine Infintino's birthday and his retirement as well... watching (and listening to) these Comic boon artists and writers getting a bit intoxicated... that was a very fond memory....

  33. "Comic Book" ... not "boon".....

  34. Unchained Melody is one of my favorites! I actually practiced pretty hard on that song once.
