Liebster Award
Way back in December, two wonderful bloggers -- Anne Marie in Philly of From My Brain to My Mouth and Toni of Wandering and Wondering -- both nominated me for a Liebster Award! Thank you so much, you two! Sorry I had to wait for the hub-bub of the holidays to die down before I could post my appreciation. Thank you even more for your patience!
The award comes with 11 questions to answer. I pass the award on to any of you who want to answer these questions on your own blog!
1. Order or chaos?
I'm all about order, baby. Chaos upsets me. I'm so anal retentive, I even rearranged the order of this set of questions to make them flow more logically.
2. What do you think about social networks?
I'm not on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat or any other social network because they are all major time-sucks. Most of my spare time goes to blogging . . . . What?
3. Why did you start blogging?
For the big bucks and international fame, same as everybody else.
4. What is the writing for?
To inflict my random thoughts and reposted cat memes upon an unsuspecting world.
5. Which literary genre do you prefer?
I like novels. Huge, sprawling, seemingly endless novels. Right now I'm reading the Game of Thrones series of (ultimately) seven novels. I'm on Book Two. It's gonna be a loooooong haul.
6. Paper book or e-book?
I prefer to read an actual paper book but if I can't get large enough print for my aging eyes, I go with the e-book version.
7. TV or not TV?
I watch certain select, cherished programs. And lotsa news because I'm a masochist.
8. Where would you like to live?
In a pineapple under the sea. No, wait, that's Spongebob.
9. Starry sky or sunset?
I love a big starry sky at night but with urban light pollution in the city, it's easier to see a sunset.
10. Favourite food?
Anything bad for me that I'm not supposed to eat.
11. Favourite music genre?
Good music is good music, no matter the genre. I love ALL kinds of music. As a special treat, I'm going to end this post with my current favourite song, S.O.B. by Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats --
Enjoy!
I'm pretty sure I've answered these in bits and pieces on my own blog, but anyway:
ReplyDelete1. Order. Of course.
2. I use Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus to disseminate my propaganda, er, I mean, share my writing, cartoons and painting.
3. To disseminate my propaganda.
4. To get rid of the demons. They're nasty little naked red horned woman-demons.
5. Any except diaspora fiction and family sagas. I can't stand either. But mostly SF/Fantasy/horror.
6. Paper, used to be. Now, more and more, e.
7. I don't own a telly and haven't in a decade.
8. On Aldebaran.
9. Starry summer sky with meteors. Sunset is too damn fleeting.
10. Your soul. Also, cheese.
11. Hard Rock/power metal. Bet you didn't see *that* coming!
I love books as well, but at my age find Kindle a blessing. I love the fact I can adjust the print.

I did as you instructed and I enjoyed. Great song, great answers...hold on, supplemental question: As you read The Song Of Ice and Fire or whatever the proper name is, how many chapters does it take to get the picture of George RR Martin, a pseudo-sailor homunculus sweatily typing out incest porn, out of your head?
ReplyDeleteI did reach international fame by blogging :) only waiting for big bucks to appear
ReplyDeleteI expected your answers to be entertaining and you didn't disappoint :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, now I'm gonna listen to that song...
Fun stuff. I'm catching up. Cut down on my cyber-world time. I have books to read, watercolors to do, yarn to do something with. But had to stop by here and catch up.
ReplyDeleteI was really pleased last week when I looked up and saw there were at least ten stars in the sky. You don't realise how bad light pollution is unless you have memories of being able to look up and sea a whole sky of them. Sure, I like being safe under a streetlight, but I like stars at the same time to ya know?
ReplyDeleteI really should do the same...social media sucks the limited life right out of me on some days.....I'm a " fixer type" so this is insanity to me!
ReplyDeleteI found a movie on Netflix you may enjoy..." Anonymous ". Very interesting! I must investigate this more!
I'm off to you tube to hear your music choice! My music choices are turning into ......ell you know!
I find you very interesting indeed! xDebi
thanks for turning me on to the night sweats. i men the group, i was already familiar with the other ones.
ReplyDeleteFirst time I've ever liked the night sweats. Congratulations on he award! Well done!
ReplyDeleteThat video kicked butt!
ReplyDeleteLove your cute sense of humor and sure enjoyed reading your 10 things....and I want to see your two dishes with words...:)
ReplyDeleteGreat answers! Living in a pineapple sounds awesome actually, it smells so good, I would get rid of that Sponge dude though. We have favorite food in common :-).
ReplyDeleteI like that you rearranged the questions.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to read. I finally did mine ladt Saturday....also from Anne Marie. I'm with you on the select tv shows and the starry sky. And here, it is pitch black at night.
ReplyDeleteI loooove their music. have you tried listening to The Heavy yet?
ReplyDeleteDebra, you are a hoot! Love reading all about you.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather live in a box than a pineapple under the sea. Sounds hard to breath.
ReplyDeleteGreat answers, I may give this a shot. :D
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that video! So stealing it; yes, yes I am.
ReplyDeleteYou can get rich and famous from blogging? Why didn't anyone tell me?
I like novels too. And even the Game of Thrones story. But there's still those awkward moments I have to just push aside the fact that George R.R. Martin is a weird pervert. Like how Daenerys is 13 in the books, which makes the whole marriage/rape/pregnancy thing so much more... not cool.
ReplyDeleteI've been hearing this song on the radio lately and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! (I sing the son-of-a-bitch part really loud.) But you know those damn radio stations - they never tell you who sings the song - too busy making crappy jokes. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for finally cluing me in, and now that I know who it is, I think I might have to go buy a CD. :)
ReplyDeleteJeez ... I was so excited about the song, I forgot to congratulate you on your award! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming over to see THE TABLE...she is the sweetest girl and a wonderful nurse. Her mom and dad divorced when she was small and she sure loves to come visit with him. The three had a great few days together while the table was being built. Now, she wants 2 end tables to match...lordy me....
ReplyDeleteWhat the heck is "Snapchat". Yes, I'm rather out of touch when it comes to things I don't use often. Makes sense, right? Social media, un-managed, is indeed a royal time-suck. Every one without enough discipline should stay away, which means all of us, lol!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the award and also for NOT being on any of those social media!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your award. I liked reading your very orderly responses and finding out a little more about you! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Couldn't happen to a nicer blogger! :o)
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoy hearing that song....
From the evidence presented we would probably get along pretty well in real life. Congrats on the award!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I love this song! Never heard it before but it's striking the right chords with me right now haha
ReplyDeleteAlso, questions:
1) Chaos. Order is monotonous, bores me. I try to keep things ordered, but it never works out.
2) My blog, Facebook, sometimes Twitter and Instagram, and uh... wattpad? Imgur - no, yes definitely Imgur :)
3) For my supposed writing career.
4) My own entertainment. Considering most of what I write isn't very... appealing? ha
5) Oh shoot, I don't know. It varies. Sometimes I read genre fics, but mostly is fantasy. Not huge on sci-fi.
6) Either. I have a chocked full bookcase and over 500 ebooks on my kindle.
7) Netflix? That's all I watch.
8) Portland, OR (and it will be coming soon this year!)
9) Big ol' starry sky. It's my favorite seeing the sky and actually seeing the stars, without all the street lights and crap getting in the way.
10) Have to agree, anything that's bad for me. Well, no sushi isn't all that bad for you, is it? That's my favorite.
11) It varies depending on the mood.
I left a shout out for you on my blog because I forgot all about my answers. Good thing you were thinking! Lol
ReplyDeleteLoved your answers..I never could have come up with most of those but I sure agree with them..
ReplyDeleteAwesome blog ,I'm a new follower and look forward to reading future posts! Congrats on your award! Thanks for sharing that video I haven't heard of them before , and I enjoyed it ! Have a great weekend ~Blessings Angela
ReplyDeleteHey Debra,
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Way to go for being nominated for the highly sought after, much loved Lobster Award, or whatever the heck it is.
What? Not on those social "notworking" sites! Don't blame you, but then again, they're a great way to promote your blog to an even bigger, adoring audience. Yep, even bigger Canadian bucks, or Loons and fame beyond this planet and all the way to Uranus.
Seriously, well done and have a good weekend, eh!
Gary :)
Thanks for stopping by for pie..:)
ReplyDeleteis there a reason you are a NO REPLY on email address...?
Well deserved, Debra!
ReplyDeletecongratulations for award very well deserved ,your all answers were nice and interesting ,,i wish i too can find time for novels
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the award, Debra, well deserved indeed!!
ReplyDeleteGreat video! Got me jumpin round!!
Nathaniel Ratliff - never heard of him. Son-of-a-bitch I liked that music.
ReplyDeletethanks
the Ol'Buzzard
I certainly started blogging for the fame and fortune. Mission accomplished.
ReplyDeleteThat song was great, I'm off to go download it now.
I loved the video! I love the song, but I have never seen the video. I prefer books too! I tried Facebook, but I don't know? It really does take up a lot of time! I find it a lot different from blogging! Blogging I find is nicer. Don't know if that makes sense? Debra, you have to show off your Game Of Thrones t-shirt!!! I want to see it! I love that show! And, I want to know, if it was worth the money! Congrats on the award, you deserve it!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the award!
ReplyDeleteI love the changing of the order, I'm still laughing. I rather like chaos myself and finding order in it. You order people have it so easy.
Now about that video, I've heard and enjoyed the tune many a time on the radio and loved the video. Thanks for sharing it. Beards, they can take great talent and raise it to the next level!
S.O.B. that's a good song! Thanks for sharing, I had never heard of the singer before. Honestly after listen to the song I sorta forgot what you answers were but I know there were good.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know more about you.
ReplyDeleteNow spill more svp :)
