Just a reminder that the
O Canada! Blogathon 2017 starts tomorrow and continues all weekend! Stay tuned for my upcoming three posts on Guy Maddin's film,
My Winnipeg.
If you want to browse around the blogathon and see what else is on offer, the full list of participants and topics is found
here.
And although he has nothing to do with the film I've chosen, may I just say how much I love Donald Sutherland? He is a National Treasure.
I can still see his cute little rear end in "animal house"! :)
ReplyDeleteA blogathon dedicated to all things Canada? Sounds like my kind of party.
ReplyDeletedid not even know Donald was Canadian :)
ReplyDeleteI'll check it out. Thanks, Debra.
ReplyDeleteThis will be lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteNow you've done it! Sometimes just reading the name 'Winnipeg' gets that Neil Young song stuck in my head! 'Don't Be Denied', from one of his early albums. Autobiographical and vulnerable in his quavering, tremulous tenor voice. I'm probably going to be singing that all day now!
ReplyDeleteI notice that the Blogathon is for TV/cinema... what about the plethora of musicians in the GWN? Maybe next year, eh?
Party!
ReplyDeleteI've seen very few things with him in it. The only one I can think of off-hand is Hunger Games
ReplyDeletei'm going to love this! i love everything canadian, especially the blog tech!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes. There is a Donald that we can all love. I always hear his voice in my head, "Stop with the negative waves, man!"
ReplyDeleteHe played a good part in Kelly's Heroes.
Oh, I loved Kelly's Heros. Donald Sutherland as Sgt. Oddball and his tanks. He was so cool.
ReplyDeleteBut I have to check this out! Thanks for the list.\
"Woof woof!"
Shame on me. I have never seen My Winnipeg. I hang my head in such shame....
ReplyDelete@ MrsDuncanMahogany -- Oh no! That's like never having had a nip at the Sal's or a goog special at the BDI! I hope some day you get a chance to see it!
ReplyDeleteDonald Sutherland is an excellent actor. Canada and Canadians deserve to be celebrated. One of my favorite Canadians is Ryan Gosling, who bears such a strong resemblance to Willy Dunne Wooters.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Donald Sutherland is great. Kiefer I could do without.
ReplyDeleteI love Canaderians
ReplyDeleteTonto was a Canaderian? damn.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved Donald, too...but not crazy about his son, Keifer (not sure how he spells it)
ReplyDeletei did not know he is from Canada ,i saw many movies and found him an extra ordinary actor
ReplyDeletewhen we talk about Robert de niro and Alpacino we remember him too in our conversations .
will be looking forward for the fun dear Debra!
Sounds like a fun series, Debra. I watched the first clip just before reading this post and I still have the music in my head. Thank you for that, by the way.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun!!
ReplyDeleteDonald Sutherland is great.
ReplyDeleteLove Donald Sutherland!! Sounds like a great series..Have a fun weekend..
ReplyDeleteI met Donald Sutherland in the Toronto airport many years ago. A very nice man. My brother went to school with Kiefer. Well Kiefer got kicked out! LOL! My brother and him use to "hang" together! What a small world!
ReplyDeleteMy second favourite Canadian (aside from you obviously) has to be the Shatmeister, I met him in Milton Keynes once many years ago.
ReplyDelete@ The Captain -- Thanks for letting me know that the Shatmeister is No 2! That's my kind of play on words, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Sutherland is a national treasure!
