How Can Edmonton Compete With This?

It's an unwritten law that you cannot go to Hawaii without taking a gazillion photos of beautiful sunsets, so here's my favourite shot taken by My Rare One!

We had a wonderful time in Maui soaking up the sun, surf and sand of the island, as well as a hula concert, various unique shops and craft shows, an evening of slack key guitar Hawaiian music and some wonderful restaurant dining.

We also soaked up chocolate milkshakes in this 1950s diner. Gotta love that old timey rock 'n roll which *yikes* is the same vintage we are!

I don't often post photos of us on the blog so in case you haven't seen one before, that is me on the left and My Rare One on the right, looking particularly happy with that milkshake, I must say.

So now that we're back home in wintry Edmonton again, regular blogging resumes next week!

  2. Ahhh, nice to meet your photo! Hubby and I love that old time rock n' roll too. Whenever we are watching a movie and the sound score is classic rock or similar we look at each other and say "this is a good movie". I've noticed the trend. Glad you both had a wonderful time. But, into every northerners life a little (little, that's a joke) snow must fall. But you'll always have those warm, sunny pictures to lift your spirits.

  3. Ah, it's nice to finally get to see you. Those milkshakes do look yummy, and I love that they are served in those old fashioned milkshake glasses. Now I want one. Sounds like you had a load of fun there.

  4. Look at you, missy, all posh and swell in tropical heat while the rest of us peasants freeze in the cold :)
Looking good in green, Debs, in that photo! You're such a legend!

  5. Hello Debra, Love the double portrait. Some people ask me if I plan to return to Ohio from Taiwan for the winter holidays. I regard them as crazy, so I agree with those who think you should have extended your Hawaiian foray until Spring.

  7. Congrats on getting on of town and out to somewhere where people take pictures of sunsets!

The blog changes once you post a picture of yourself. This is where it gets too real. If my recent experience is any indication.

Loved the pics and I look forward to having you back to your regular blogging soon.

  11. I'd been peeping your blog long before you discovered mine (because I at long last left a comment), and this is first time I've seen you. It's always nice to see the face behind the blog and their rare one.

  12. I've always pictured you two as Wonder Woman and Xena. This is so much better!
I love Hawaii and I discovered that no matter how gifted one is with a camera, the true vivid colors of the place don't transfer. That's were a good memory comes in. I could just be lousy at taking pictures, though.

  25. Two happy faces enjoying themselves immensely! I am both craving a milkshake and sunshine about now as the snow falls outside my window. Can I come along next time? I'll carry all your baggage and everything!

  26. I'm shivering in my Philly 'burbs town while envying your tropical trip. That is a lovely sunset. Hopefully the memories of Hawaii will keep you warm during the Edmonton winter.

That looks like a fun diner. We used to have something similar to us, but sadly it closed. My children (who are both milkshake snobs) really used to love the shakes they had there. Wonder if I could get the family to go to Hawaii for the milkshakes.
