One hundred years ago in 1924,
my maternal grandparents arrived in Canada
as immigrants from Switzerland.
To mark this centennial, I've decided to
pay a humorous homage to my Swiss heritage --
Pretend that being landlocked
doesn't prevent Switzerland
from having sea creatures --
And let's not forget
Switzerland's national hero,
William Tell!
Love 'em!!
ReplyDeleteYou found a good collection there 😎😀❤️
WTF?! No AI photo of you in Lederhosen swilling a frosty mug o'beer?
ReplyDeleteHilarious take on ancestry! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Debra, These are all great, but you forgot this one:

--Jim
These are wonderful! The Swiss army knife of posts. Congratulations on your heritage.
ReplyDeleteWell, these are mostly Swiss cheesy but the Swiss lobster ... LOL
ReplyDeleteSo good to have you back and in top form!
Nice!
ReplyDelete@ Paracelsus (Jim) -- Good one, lol! Yes, my post needs more memes about chocolate, and cuckoo clocks too.
ReplyDeleteWHAT? NO CHEESE? And what is that under the psychiaknife's chair?
ReplyDeleteWell, Frank, there are always extras in Bizzaro cartoons. There's a fish under the chair, a piece of pie under the couch, a lit stick of dynamite on the medical degree, and a tiny alien next to the word bubble! In the apple eye chart cartoon, there's an alien lookin' up the optometrist's butt! 👽🤣
DeleteThese are great! I really like the apple eye chart one.
ReplyDelete@ Frank -- D'oh! You're absolutely right -- how could I have missed cheese from my list of overlooked stereotypes? I think that's a fish under the shrink's chair -- Bizarro always puts weird things in the corners and margins of his cartoons.
ReplyDelete"For whom the Tells Bowled" may be the line of the week.
ReplyDeleteAnother great assort,emt/
ReplyDeleteThose are cute and funny! Have you been to Switzerland to see where your relatives lived?
ReplyDeleteNow people would pay to move to Switzerland
ReplyDeletei laughed at these a lot harder than i should have!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laughs. I had no idea that William Tell was Swiss or that he sparked a revolution in Switzerland. My ignorance of history is quite vast at times:)
ReplyDelete@ Ellen D -- Alas, no, I've never made it to Switzerland. Various relatives in my extended family have been, though, including my grandmother who returned to visit her homeland and siblings several times. Two of her sisters came to visit her in Canada in the 1970s, so I met them when I was a teenager.
ReplyDelete"for whom the Tells bowled" ... groan, I should have seen that coming, and a big thanks to your maternals for all the lovely chocolates.
ReplyDeleteThey’re all so funny and very very clever.
ReplyDeleteThese all left a smile on my face. Nice post, kiddo.
ReplyDeleteLong before we had apps on out cell phones, the Swiss had them on their knives.
ReplyDelete@ Kirk -- That's a cool and imaginative way of looking at it!
ReplyDeleteI think "For Whom The Tells Bowled" should be nominated for Dad Joke Of The Year.
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented to put these memes into a Swiss theme
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection. My elderly neighbour age 88 this year, was born in Switzerland and told me stories of living up on a mountain where her parents ran a hotel.
ReplyDeleteIf I were Swiss Arthur, I would have seen those “swords” in the stone and kept on walking. (Although I already know about Guinevere, Lancelot, Morgan le Fay, and Mordred.
ReplyDeleteFor whom the Tells bowled ... LOLOL
The ‘Polka Hard’ one sent me!
ReplyDeleteLmaooooo
XOXO
I lived in Switzerland way back in the year 2000. I can tell you some interesting things about the Swiss like they are very clean and like to vacuum their train tracks. They are also fond of fondue! They all speak multiple languages. It is a stunning country and you should go there.
ReplyDeleteLol, very funny. Switzerland is possibly the most beautiful country on earth. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHopp Schwiiz!
ReplyDeleteOMG too funny. You are the best.
ReplyDeleteVery good collection. I cant help you if you won't open up.
ReplyDeleteMy dad's cousin married a Swiss. I'm sure I have some second cousins somewhere but never met them.
Can you yodel? https://youtu.be/B00nfVc4FPI?si=Mc0QL8CsZhwIyjVw
Swiss Army! Ha ha ha! Another fun series. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAgain lots of good ones. Love the Tells bowled and the little crab, and that is some serious polkaing!
ReplyDelete@ The Blog Fodder -- No, I can't yodel. I had an uncle who could yodel a bit. The only "Swiss" thing I can do is eat lots of chocolate!
ReplyDeleteAll very funny.
ReplyDeleteFor whom the Tells bowled? Oh, my! Who doesn't fear the yodel?
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Cute and funny. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSome of these are kind of Swiss Cheesy....lol. Fun! xo Diana
ReplyDelete@ NanaDiana -- Oh, that pun is a hole-in-one!
ReplyDeletehe he he he he
ReplyDeleteLots of fun, Debra! I had a good laugh from the Swiss knife on the couch and a groan over the Tells bowled!
ReplyDeleteFor who the Tells bowled made me groan, then laugh.
ReplyDeleteLoved them all!
ReplyDeleteDid you know that Swiss women didn't get the right to vote until the 1970's? I grew up with some Swiss ex-pat kids and the girls were justifiably outraged by that.
@ e -- Yes, I did know that and was equally outraged by it! Switzerland is a conservative place but that was just ridiculous!
ReplyDeletehaha so enjoyable
ReplyDeletethe land where cows surpass human in population :)
we have swiss cotton and lawn here lol
hugs
