Advent Calendars

Well, it's December 1st and
you know what that means!

Yes, start enjoying your
Advent Calendars today!

My Rare One bought me another
British Cheese Advent Calendar this year,
since I enjoyed last year's so much!

It has new, streamlined packaging for 2020
and the individual cheeses
are now rectangular
not round.

I gave an Advent Calendar to
My Rare One in return.

No, not this one --
(although it was tempting!)

Since My Rare One adores Lindt chocolate
I got her one of their Advent Calendars instead,
filled with Swiss chocolatey goodness.

Yum!

But we Advent Calendar fans
must all remember
to exercise discipline
and open only one door per day!

  4. OMG yes!
I love advent calendars! And I'm with your Rare One: chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. I should get one, but I usually end up eating half the month while watching tv.

    XOXO

  5. This is all new to me...chocolate and cheese advent calendars? Back when I was in Catholic school Advent calendars were all about prayers and stuff. My take on this is, forget the calendar, just give me the chocolate.

  6. I was given two advent calendars this year, one by me and one by my sister. Identical calendars. We each forked over $5. THEN we read the fine print. The OS on my laptop is too old to run it. Hiss, boo!

  7. PS. I was a little afraid of encountering . . .how to put this nicely . . . . . a bit of irreverence. But this was all VERY tasteful. Did you get the Ukrainian one from Rudy Giuliani? It's full of baloney just like he is.

  8. I love that you each gifted one to another! I've never done an advent calendar...but do they offer them with wine samples?

  9. @ Cynthia -- Irreverence and tastelessness on MY blog? HAHAHAHAHAHA! Yes, be afraid, be very afraid. But every once in a while, I'm serious-ish just to throw people off.

  10. @ Suz -- Oh yes, there are wine advent calendars. And beer ones too. In fact, you can get advent calendars with damn near anything in them. There are probably sex toy advent calendars too, I have no doubt. Oops, there's that irreverence and tastelessness again, LOL!

  11. Sausage calendar, and perhaps the cheese one, too.

  12. Last year, there was a company in Vancouver that made marijuana advent calendars that sold out in minutes and made many Canadians very merry that Xmas! (pun intended) Nowadays, you can buy empty Advent calendars of all sizes and fill them with mini bottles of liquor, condoms, penis-shaped gummies or whatever the recipient would like! Now THAT'S irreverence and tastelessness...woohoo!

  13. Those are perfect advent calendars. I laughed and laughed at the Ukrainian calendar. I need to get a cheese one and send it to Lisa, pronto! She shouldn't have cheese but she does anyway.

I also thought that a couple of people I know would love a thc/cbd advent calendar... now, where can I source that? Well, I'm in Oregon, so it shouldn't be too hard!

  16. David wants an advent calendar with a Luling sausage link inside each door. Crazy Texan. The Lindt chocolate calendar wouldn't last past the 1st.

  17. I had a Lindt advent calendar one year and I was very confused when, similar to that last meme, instead of 26 days until Christmas, I only had one. I thought of buying 25 more advent calendars.

  19. Looking is a shop window recently, I saw a whisky Advent calendar. Cost about £60. Quite reasonable for turning yourself or someone else into an alcoholic in just 25 days.

  20. The Ukrainian advent calendar cracked me up. I'm afraid it would not last me long. The cheese one is an awesome idea.

  21. I love the last one. Lindt is my favourite chocolate. My daughter has bought me a beautiful advent calendar, it's a large box like a drawer with two doors opening to reveal 24 boxes, each with a gift inside. Today's was two lovely scented bars of soap.

  25. A Cheese Advent Calendar would be great... I don't eat Chocolate. I think I would be disciplined enough to only eat the Day's worth of whatever Advent Calendar I'd buy... but I dunno... Pandemic Pressure is REAL and half the time I don't even know what Day/Date it is anymore! I thought November was over last Week!? *winks*

  26. I am craving everything right now: chocolate, cheese... all right, I'm not craving a monstrous sausage.

I might copy you and get a chocolate one for my Piano Man.

  28. I love lindt chocolate too. The British cheese one would be fine if each day was filled with mature cheddar. I'll pass on the rest. :D

  29. Chocolate! It doesn't help my covid belly.

  30. I like the chocolate calendar - it would surely be New Years by tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Haha. You and your Rare One are very good to each other.
According to my chocolate advent calendar (if I had one), Christmas already passed. Oops.
    Cheers.

  34. I don't celebrate Christmas, but I have fond memories of a tea advent calendar a thoughtful soul once gave me as a gift

  35. We bought a chocolate advent calendar from Aldi, as well as one for our dog and our cats (they had pet ones-we are by no means feeding them chocolate).

  36. Enjoy your Advent calendar, Debra! A feast of cheeses sounds wonderful. Advent calendars were not part of my background. That might be a good thing! Cheese and chocolate are two of my favorite things. Wishing you and your Rare One all the joys of the season, my friend!

  37. If I had an Advent Calendar with chocolates, it would be Christmas Eve right now.

    Love,
    Janie

  38. I was raised Catholic, without advent calendars, but to be honest I don't know if that's because of Catholicism or the fact that my parents didn't have a lot of extra money. When my son was little, Trader Joe's had inexpensive advent calendars and I had long given up on Catholicism but he enjoyed the chocolate fruits of my apostasy. These days, we've outgrown the habit, but I understand there are advent calendars involving cheese and even whiskey. I'm thinking it might be time to get involved in advent calendars once again.

  39. LOL! You're too funny! This is why I stopped buying them, after the first day, all the doors were open! LOL! Big Hugs!
