  1. Hadn’t seen that before. Thanks for posting it. The legacy of Captain America joins the rest of us in condemning the terrorists and Cult of DT.

  2. Good for Neal Kirby, for making this position crystal clear. Also, I never quite got the "gay Bucky" references in your blog, thinking it must be some form of fan-fiction. But after seeing the original cover, come on, how obvious can they get?

  3. Absolutely what I needed to see and read this morning! Yes! Capt. America punching out the rioters! Love it!
45 is a disgrace to the human race.

  4. Neil Kirby couldn't have said it better!

  5. Many of those in the Capitol on 1/6 were there because it was fun, and they got to play dress up and march alongside Nazis and Holocaust deniers and racists.
I feel sorry for those idiots who will find themselves on trial for following traitors, when all they really wanted was to wear some horns and face makeup and play dress up because they're too stupid to think on their own.
Punch a Nazi; punch a ReTHUGlican ...at the ballot box.

  6. @ Parnassus (Jim) -- Yes, Bucky was there with Cap right from Day One, although in much more "innocent times" prurient conclusions weren't drawn on a wide scale. It did take modern fanfiction and fanart to make the true potential of the situation more, shall we say, explicit!

  7. It's a shame when even comics and founders of comics and their sons are appalled. But well said Neal Kirby.

  8. I didn't know about Neal Kirby thanks for posting this.

  9. Is Bucky behind the scenes scanning phone records and credit card receipts, putting the rest of the fascist pigs at the scene of the coup? Is it a Captain America works hard, but Bucky works smart sort of thing?

  10. I love Captain America more than ever now! Thank you Neil Kirby for telling it like it is!

  11. @ brewella deville -- Yeah, Bucky is definitely the brains of that outfit.

  12. I did see some of the MAGAts with Captain America's shields. Barf.
Captain America would have kicked the hell out of their entitled assess.
    Save America. Punch a Nazi.

    XOXO

  13. Nice find. This is just like tRUMP using songs without permission for his rallies. I wonder what else was used that nobody noticed.

  14. Captain America would despise Trump and his sycophants.

  15. VERY well said, Mr. N. Kirby!!! Thanks for posting this, Deb ~

  16. Neal Kirby, Jack Kirby's son, is Captain America. Powerfully and perfectly written!

  17. Speaking of using someone else's stuff, I used your post on my Facebook page.

  18. Neal Kirby has articulated the true meaning of Captain America as a symbol of American democratic values. Unfortunately, the gun-toting morons that supported the orange ass-monkey have no idea what real Nazis were like! My father was a Canadian WWII combat veteran who believed to his dying day that "the only good Nazi was a dead Nazi." And I suspect many such veterans would have been sickened and/or outraged at the recent rise of far-right, neo-Nazi groups in both the U.S. and Canada.

  19. Yes, Captain America!
It was cool to know more about his origin.

  20. Thank you for posting this, Debra. And thank you, Neal Kirby, for setting the record straight. Two Jewish guys from New York... still fighting the good fight!

  21. My Goddess, if we had Captain America around right now he would have punched trump out and then literally kick him in the ass. I really with CA was around.

  22. Most of those insurrectionists did not think of themselves as Nazis. They thought of themselves as protecting America, and thus appropriating pop-culture symbols is entirely in character. But the winners get to write the history, I guess. Funny how we don't talk about Operation Paperclip much these days. (Admittedly, I don't follow the Captain America canon, so maybe they address the overlaps between the good old USA and Nazi Germany in the comix or movies.)

  23. Thanks for doing this. There is no bar too low for Trump and his cultish followers.

  24. @ Old Lurker -- Of course they all saw themselves as patriots, freedom fighters and liberators. German Nazis did too, didn't they? And we all know that wasn't true either. "Nazi is as Nazi does."

And yes, Operation Paperclip does have a kind of parallel in Marvel comix and movies. After WW2, evil HYDRA infiltrates SHIELD and grows covertly within its ranks "like a beautiful parasite" according to Dr Zola (the Hydra scientist who created the Winter Soldier). HYDRA's presence goes undetected for decades until, of course, Captain America discovers the truth and brings down both SHIELD and HYDRA.

  26. Wow - raging applause to Neal Kirby for carrying his father's torch. I love this. Captain America exists in reality and hates the trumpster.
Great, enlightening post, Debra. Thank you.
    2-ish days left.

  28. Good for Neal! Goodness knows I wanted to puke when I saw the nonsense. The nerve (and stupidity) of certain people knows no limits!

Also, the new edition of the comic rocks!

  29. I'm sorry that the united states put Trump in for President. I couldn't believe he even got elected. So glad he will be gone at 12:01 Eastern time.

  30. Speaking of a later Kirby creation, the Thing was eventually revealed to be Jewish, in honor of the cartoonist, though he didn't live long enough to see it. And lest we forget, Superman was created by two Jewish high school kids from Cleveland. His motto? "Truth, Justice, and the American Way."

  31. I'm very proud of my Captain America cap now.

  32. A great posting by Neil Kirby. We all know if trumps head is pasted on any hero's body - it's a major fake.

  33. I am deceased at that alternate comic cover! Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

  34. I hope they file Lawsuits and hit those who stole without permission, the rights to use any of it, in the wallet hard! My Hope is that tRump be relieved of every Penny he owns and Die a destitute irrelevant man who caused the Deaths and destitution of many Americans that deserved better than what he has done to this Country, perhaps irrevocably so. His putrid Legacy will be remembered in History as the worst ever and may it remain a Warning of what can happen when Evil and depraved is put into positions of Power.

  35. I really love that statement. Cap used to be my favourite hero ever when I was a kid. And I always hated the Ultimate version because he was a jingoistic bully. This is true to his spirit and it's a big middle finger to the traitors and domestic terrorists who attacked the Capitol.

  36. i am glad that truth was revealed eventually dear Debar

i think truth has gift that it cannot be hide with even combine ,compressed and long lasting efforts
best about it that if it is not revealed by others Nature unfolds it by the behavior of one who try to hides it
laws of nature are hard to escape from :)

  37. Love the new Captain America meme.

  38. The same happened with the misappropriation of Norse symbols. These morons need to hire a graphic designer.

  39. Yes! Thank goodness for Neal Kirby speaking up! "Festering cesspool of lies and hypocrisy" is an apt description, and I love Captain America taking the ridiculous QAnon Shaman down.
