Unique Crafts

I salute crafters who have the
vision and talent to create
unique items of whimsical delight!

Crocheted and knitted items
need not be boring!

How about a crocheted
Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch?

Who wouldn't want this?

Embroidery need not be old-fashioned!
It can speak to our modern times too!

And never underestimate
the power of cardboard --

HRH wants me to make
an Iron Throne for her too!
She is threatening me
with dragons if I don't.

HELP!

OMG I think the fact that I loved all this so hard says a LOT about me!
But I DO need the 'Bless this wretched hive of scum and villainy' masterpiece STAT. Please?

    XOXO

  4. All that talent. Who has the time.

And our cats might kill us in our sleep if we tried dressing them up.

    Though Tuxedo likes that throne!

  12. I hear that dragons can and will inflict quite a burn even when small. You better get busy with the throne project, like real soon. I stole the dog/Enterprise meme.

  13. I wish I could crochet so that I could become addicted! Oh, the expressions on those poor animals' faces! HAH! The McDonalds Sphinx (I think) is priceless. Such long suffering.

  18. I'm gonna have to pay my kids not to buy me the Faberge egg for Christmas. These are fabuloso!! I want a throne like that for my cat, so I guess that means I have to get a cat.

  19. Love all of these but the "Wretched hive of scum & villainy" took the cake ~ I have always love that bit!!

  20. That cat LOVES her iron throne! How utterly perfect for a feline.
These were all hilarious and oh-so-true. There are now many makers of, ahem, contemporary theme cross-stitch or needlepoint patterns. Much swearing!

The only thing I manage is scarves, which I donate to various coat drives.

  21. What does it say about me that I looked closely at the cardboard section to study the construction for possible use?

  22. @ Travel -- Thanks for the cute video link! That's Team Canada, you know.

  23. Thanks for all the great belly laughs with these today! But if you want a fighting chance against HRH and her flying monkeys, er dragons, you better get a hold of Captain America's shield NOW!

  24. Oh, the sheepdog! And most everything else. I knew I could count on you to make me smile.

  25. And I thought my cat seat in the window held aloft by massive suction cups was cool. :D

  26. Debra, I thought this blog was a safe haven for animal lovers (unless we provoked HRH, in which case we had better watch out and even then we'll never see it coming). I'm reporting you to the SPCA for some of these.

  27. Ha, ha, those poor animals! Brilliant ideas. That throne is very impressive.

  28. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! And that's just for the McKitty.

I don't know what to say about HRH's demands, except sorry and good luck with that.

  29. oh don't you know Dexter would have loved that game of throne one...

  30. The throne certainly is beautiful.

  31. I think I must learn to crochet. I want to make my dog a sheep too.

  32. I love that cat throne, but I won't be making one. Lola would never sit in it. I also love the proof of being able to stab something 10,000 times.
People who knit and crochet are so clever. My mum used to knit tiny octopuses in footy team colours.

  33. I love these! There's an upside to this pandemic after all.

  34. dear me!
Some people indeed are clever - and have too much time on their hands.

  35. I am going to learn how to knit this weekend. I'm not artistic, but I want to see how it goes. Will be making prayer shawls for people in church.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I don't know a stitch about creating knitted things. Now the cardboard ideas would be worth a try.

  37. Wolfie's grandma does crochet and his grand-maman does knitting.

  38. That throne is quite impressive, and it took me ages to realise that was dog not a sheep model.
Daughter-in-law is trying to persuade me to take a sewing course. If I could do cross stitch like that stabbing one I might be tempted!

  39. These are amazing! I am always entertained by what crafty people create when thinking outside the box.

  40. My shoulder keeps me from cross-stitching and crochet, but I appreciate the artistry!

  41. HaHaHa! I'll bet a lot of cats want the pandemic gone! Yes, you must make an Iron Throne for HRH! Just the laugh that I needed this evening!

    ReplyDelete
  42. HAHAHA! The first one especially got to me. I can imagine one of my cats wearing that.

  43. I love the cat throne! I want it for my stuffed animals! LOL! Big Hugs!
