  1. I've had these arguments with coworkers about trans people and I just ask them:

    Who is it hurting?
    Well, it's not right.
    Who is it hurting?
    Boys are boys and girls--
    Who is it hurting?

It goes on for a while with every anti-trans bigoted statement brought up, but they can never answer MY question.

  2. There’s even a Transeuropean Road Network, a Transeuropean car company (for those who don’t drive like everyone else), and Transamerica has been “protecting your wealth and health since 1906.” Assholes!!!

  4. I have a liberal, "be yourself" attitude toward sexuality and gender. I think it's great that people are able to express their identities in whatever way they choose. But having been indoctrinated in English language usage, I wish that there were a better alternative than "they" and "them" being used in the singular. In a conversational context it can not only be disconcerting but can cause confusion and even harmful misunderstandings. I challenge the linguists to come up with a better solution.

  5. Yay for accepting everyone as they are. They know best how and who they are. There's a wide range of gender and it's good to realize that.

  6. I think a lot of cis men get pissed that attractive trans women can make them feel gay.

We don't see the same hatred for transmen.

We got a lot of work left in society. Doesn't help when the media only highlights very unpassable trans people in order to shock the general audience

  7. Oh, I have had this argument SO MANY TIMES!
Especially with you-know-who who banned you. Yeah, he knows how I think.
Charlotte Clymer is so very smart. Love her.

    XOXO

  8. The Dana Goldberg meme sums it up to a T!!!!!!!!! PERFECT!

  9. Some great "In your face" memes here. Especially the butterfly one.

I think gay and trans are wired in the brain. But then we have genetic variations also.
    X0
    XXX
    XXXX
    XXXXX
    XYY
    XYYY
    XYYYY
    XXY
    XXYY
    XXXY
    XXXXY
    XXYYY
    Failed XY
    Normal XY and XX

You can look all these up on Wikipedia.

  10. As a person with three (or four) gay grands and one trans, I've come to like "they". It covers a lot.

  11. Your memes are good ones but sadly true.
I use they in ordinary writing as neutral for he/she. It has been used for years. Why so hard to use it for a real person? As an Animal Science grad, I know enough about genetics and reproduction to wonder how anyone turns out "normal" ie XY or XX etc. There are so many variables before we become who we are and not just chromosomal. Also if Normal is what is expected then all the variants listed in the comment above are normal.

  12. Love all of these, especially the Dana Goldberg tweet. I'll never understand why the cis/straight world cares about how other people live their lives. It doesn't affect you, Karen, so STFU!

  13. Honestly, it's sad to see Transphobia. I recently heard a conservative was making a documentary titled "What is a Woman?" and it got really Transphobic. 😬

But I agree with on all of these, and also on particular on the car meme. It's weird that cis people are like "gender is binary" and then turning around going "that car is she!"

  14. The days of the week is disgracefully so true. I love the “Dear Abby” reply from a previous post

  15. Love the Caterpillar and the Butterfly...What is a Cis person?? I never heard that term..

  16. Haters make a person tired, don't they? Sigh.

  17. I never understand why people are so concerned about how other people live their lives. It is frustrating. Elliot Page's character on the Umbrella Academy transitioned from female. The writers had fun with it and I'm glad they wrote his personal change into the script. Brilliant!

  18. TRANS PRIDE IS MY PRIDE, TOO!

Sending love support and respect to my Trans/NB family!

  19. @ This N That -- A cis person is someone who is not transgendered. A cis person's gender identity matches their biological sex. For example, I am a cis woman -- I feel female and am biologically female. Cis people do not feel they are born in the wrong body the way trans people do.

  21. "Sit down. Jesus said to." HAHAHA! Love that one. I'll have to remember it. This post was great. The first image about being uncomfortable about long held views being challenged pretty much summarizes it.

  22. Oh my gosh. These are so good and who doesn't love IN YOUR FACE logic?

  23. I can't pretend that I understand but I support and love. Is that okay?

  24. @ Liz Hinds -- Yes! That's more than okay -- that's what it's all about!

  25. I grew up with 'boat nerds' (back then they were called freighter freaks). The boats always had male names but were referred to as 'she'. The Edmund Fitzgerald, she went down.

  26. @ Ur-spo -- Any mechanical device which serves men is called "she." Another cultural custom rooted in sexism, alas.

  27. Great post, Debra! So much to think about here. Brandy Bryant's signs made me burst out laughing. Ben Rosen's really puts things in perspective. Have a good one!

  28. I am always an ally for trans people!

  29. Yaaaaaaaaaas Canada, rock on my liege. I have several youngsters in my life who fall under the trans umbrella and I'm glad they feel my home is a safe space to gather (and also glad that they mostly clean up after themselves when they come over, though Darling Youngest sometimes needs reminding).
