And Now, A Word From Lake Superior

That's it. That's all I can bear
to post today to mark
Independence Day in the USA.

  4. That last one? Yep, that's exactly how we're doing it this year.

  6. Thanks for this Debra. I follow LakeSuperior on twitter, And this is the first political tweet I've ever seen it post. Thanks for injecting some humor into the precarious situation we find ourselves in.

  9. Those last two are right on the mark. Well, second to last is more precise — canceled. What will change by November?

  10. @ Moving with Mitchell -- Well, I guess people are hoping that people will vote in droves for the Democrats in the November midterm elections so that some of the Supreme Court's worst rulings can be modified or even overturned by legislative action.

  11. Brilliant. Go Lake Superior!

  12. That second to last meme sums it up perfectly.

  13. I grew up on the Great Lakes, and Lake Superior was literally 'awesome' to me. Oh to see it again!

  14. Those last two have been posted all over the place. The ladies are not happy with the supremes.

  15. Unbelievable crap going on there, I'm so far removed Debra (by choice!?!), Joyce told me about the (un)Supreme court stuff...what's next, a witch hunt?

  16. So perfect for today! It is incredible what is happening right now.

  17. Thank you, Lake Superior, and Debra. It's not much of an Independence Day with so many people fighting for voting rights and reproductive rights and fearing what other rights will be taken away from us.

    Love,
    Janie

  19. Glad to see Lake Superior is on the correct side of history. To bad it does not have an appointment to the SCOTUS.

  23. Yup. Don't feel like celebrating this year, as much as I love Americans.

  24. I found out that a friend of my friend Karen is the woman behind the Lake Superior account. They had a good laugh at all the attention this has gotten! "Lake Superior hasn't wrecked anyone this bad since the Edmund Fitzgerald" LOL.

  25. I'm not on twitter. So this a bit confusing to me. Someone started tweeting as Lake Superior. OK that sounds like fun. I know there are plenty of strange ideas on twitter and the internet. So did the person behind this Lake Superior account decide to announce their support for the right to choose?

Sounds fine to me. Don't people just unfollow people who tweet an opinion they don't agree with? For example, if you were to post an opinion way out there in Nazi or Proud Boys thinking I might just stop following you. I certainly would think a bad witch had put you under a spell for that to happen.

We all have opinions and I believe some are potentially dangerous. Social media has allowed too much virtual outrage.

thanks for letting me vent here.

  26. Lack of Independence says it all.

  27. 4th of July was a subdued and sad day in my neck of the woods.
The local trumpublicans had an event in St George, the regional capitol, complete with lots of flags, Glenn Beck,
    a country singer and fireworks.
Out here in the smaller towns, nobody did much.
My little town had the traditional pancake breakfast and a small parade. By noon, we were pretty much done with it.
I heard Cedar City had a more successful celebration.

  30. "Lake Superior hasn't wrecked anyone this bad since the Edmund Fitzgerald."
    OMG, I love it!
    Seriously though, unfortunately, Independence Day,
might wind up cancelled in meaning forever.
The architects of the new SKCOTUS (now SKCOTUS - Sickening Kangaroo Court Of Trump's Unscrupulous Sycophants)
have, cheer-leaded by Lying Lindsey Graham,
rolled back even the bare minimum right of Habeas Corpus.
England, from which independence was sought, now has more rights than we do.
Perhaps we should look into having England take us back in order to retrieve some of our rights.
