So to update my (shall we say) continuing fascination with long-haired hockey players, I spotted two more prime specimens while watching this year's Stanley Cup playoffs. Yes, these guys were the highlights of the entire playoffs for me.
(1) IGOR SHESTERKIN, Russian goalie for the New York Rangers. And he's a real tease about his long hair, too. He knows it's sexy!
(2) MIKA ZIBANEJAD, centre and alternate captain of the New York Rangers. He's from Sweden, but his heritage is Iranian and Finnish. What magnificent long hair, especially before it gets all sweaty!
That's all for now! I'll report back to you again next hockey season!
Lol. That hair must be quite sweaty after a game.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the rink is cold enough to make it not so bad
DeletePretty niche interest!
ReplyDeleteWith adorable hair flip, Shesterkin looks ready for a shamppo ad!
ReplyDeleteGreat hair, and a rough and tumble.
ReplyDeleteMmmm - sweaty long hair - can't say I am a fan.
ReplyDeleteI have quite long hair, but unfortunately I don't play hockey - although we had some rip-roarin' field hockey games when I was a kid (I had long hair then, too.) We made our own sticks in woodshop at our school. I also have a beard down to my belly0button, and my two cats really like it.
ReplyDeleteI love your posts, Debra. You are the one blog I always check regularly, and you never disappoint. Even though we don't always share the same interests, I'm always interested in your interests even if they are not mine. You are something I found during COVID, and your site is one of the things that kept me sane. I'm sticking with you. Thank you for everything!
# Dunstan Skinner -- Awww, thanks for your kind words, Dunstan! I'm glad you enjoy my quirky blog. Give your two long-hair-fan kitties a special skritch from me!
ReplyDeleteShesterkin actually has a black plastic hair band in his hand ... I have one just like it! I find that rather off-putting but then I am old! Never did much care for long hair on the guys!
ReplyDeleteIgor Shesterkin is a worthy contender, but my nominees are from the Tampa Bay Lightning: Defenseman Victor Hedman and Right Winger Nikita "Krafty" Kucherov! ROWWRRRR!
ReplyDeleteFor the record, I don't like sweaty long hair on men either, so I prefer to think of it as a "just out of the shower" look, LOL!
I had 70s long hair for about 10 years. Almost to my shoulders. Now that I'm back in the 70s I might do it again.
ReplyDelete@ Tundra Bunny -- I'll check them out, thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh Igor!
ReplyDeleteThat was fun! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI was a hockey fan of the 60s. Sorry, long-haired, freaky, Hippy people. Don't much admire it on the players since the 70s.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little jealous, I wish I could grow mine that long too!
ReplyDeleteIgor knows how to work the hair-ography! Doesn't Mika have soulful bedroom eyes?
ReplyDeleteYou are playing with fire here, D! You don't want to lose your lesbian card!
E
I don't follow hockey. I wonder if I'd follow long hair.
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous E -- My interest is, of course, purely intellectual, I assure you.
ReplyDeleteA true Canadian sport.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
You got me thinking about Chris Simon, a one-time enforcer for the Colorado Avalanche (and Washington Capitals, and other teams). Then I read about what happened to him, and now I am sad. Thanks, Debra!
ReplyDeleteHe had some locks, though.
One of the young staff member at a local supermarket here wears his hair in a man bun, but recently wore it hanging down his back. It's just past waist length! Thick and gorgeous.
ReplyDelete@ Old Lurker -- Thanks for the link. Yes, gorgeous long hair and very handsome too. Alas, enforcers often had/have troubled lives.
ReplyDeleteEwwww...To each her own..not in to sweat!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am sure they made your day. LOL
ReplyDeleteKudos to the photographer for getting that MIKA ZIBANEJAD pic. An action shot if I ever saw one.
ReplyDeleteThat hair flip photo!
ReplyDeleteYou aren't kidding about the troubled lives. Bob Probert died young of a heart attack, and had documented brain damage. Rick Rypien committed suicide. And poor Stu Grimson became a lawyer.
ReplyDeletewhat is this game called hockey? Is it big up there?
ReplyDeleteI truly believe both of them should be making commercial ads for shampoo company "You are worth it!"
ReplyDeleteLOL
Seems to me all that hair would make a good hand-hold to trip someone up. I believe I'd tie it up and tuck it inside the helmet.
ReplyDeleteGo Rangers! Really love Mika's hair. Oddly never really focused on Igor's until now. His goalie gear hides most of it.
ReplyDeletea reason for me to watch hockey..
ReplyDeleteI do love long hair on a man but it is nice BEFORE it is sweaty haha
ReplyDeleteWhen the Habs are not playing, I don't really follow hockey.
ReplyDeleteLol hair takes effort and commitment! Especially if it gets all funky from sweat regularly.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking about my bar hopping days and when I slept that night my hair stank of cigarette smoke and stale beer. You have to wonder how good and how often these athletics scrub that head. My fingers are crossed for their significant other.
