Hmmmm, now HERE'S an idea . . . .
There should be
NO AGE DISCRIMINATION
on Halloween!
Every year, you have to be
MORE AND MORE CAREFUL
about what people do to the treats.
And then there's the asshats
who give out CRAPPY TREATS!
But "crappy" is in the
EYE OF THE BEHOLDER,
I guess . . . .
I've DESPISED
Kerr's Molasses Halloween Kisses
ever since eating one 60 years ago
after my first time trick-or-treating.
But back in those days,
our Halloween bags were always
FULL TO THE BRIM
with the goddamn things.
But, you know, there's
WORSE THINGS TO DREAD
than Halloween Kisses --
happy halloween! i love those molasses kisses but i can never find them anymore. and it's raining! it better stop by 5:00 because i have 150 trick-or-treat bags i am hoping to get rid of.
ReplyDeleteThat last one if terrifying, all I want for ..... is you, I can hear it already.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween.
ReplyDeleteMy sincerest apologies: I ordered mini Hershey bars Halloween candy (on sale) for curbside pick-up at the grocery store and checked "allow substitutions" which of course is what I got; so no mini Hershey bars this year, just mostly Reeses "Pumpkins" with a few single KitKats, tiny Heath Bars, and miniscule 3 ball-pack of Whoppers mixed in. They will call me stingy this year.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd take the spud, too.
ReplyDeleteAnd Mariah???? Already?????
Love those first two--gonna steal them.
ReplyDeleteHaha.. my kids have received a toothbrush. But the lady actually apologized. She forgot it was Halloween and when kids started showing up she freaked so she started giving away random things until her husband came back with some candy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween! Blessed Samhain. I'm actually not giving out candy this year. (We don't get trick r treaters here). but I have some that i'll share with you! :-)
ReplyDeletelove & magicks

Blessed Samhain to you 🎃
DeleteA lot of Halloween parties and parades here, just the occasional trick or treater, so the kids are well catered to. I'm not sorry that Mischief Night has faded into history.
ReplyDeleteThere is some really bad candy out there but luckily, there was plenty of the good stuff. I always had to hide it from my brothers! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHappy Hollows to you and rare one! It's funny about the circus peanuts. Me and my family were just talking about how my grandmother always had circus peanuts in her candy dish.
ReplyDeleteI loved watching dylan go thru his bag of candy from westfest parade. this is good, this is icky, this is very good, oh no I hate deese...oh look two tootsie pops..think they were his favorites..can't wait to see him go thru his halloween bag.
ReplyDeleteHee hee - just cracked up over the religious pamphlets and the popcorn balls. I happen to love those old timey molasses and peanut butter kisses but now that I am vegan so much candy is off limits. It really saves my waistline this time of year. Happy Halloween Debra and thanks for all the wonderful posts.
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how long it took me to find this explanation. ...
ReplyDeleteMariah Carey Defrosting refers to a series of memes referencing the holiday song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey being played in public places increasingly more and more as Christmas approaches as if Carey begins to defrost some time around Halloween. The meme often also includes Canadian singer Michael Bublé, also associated with the return of Christmas music around the holidays.
@ Mike -- You are a true researcher. I've posted a Michael Bublé Christmas meme in the past but it showed him emerging from a cave after hibernating all year, as opposed to being thawed out from cryo!
ReplyDeleteThat last image and thought is terrifying. We used to keep a bag of those mini raisin boxes on hand. Amazingly, when given a choice, a large number of kids that came to our house chose the raisins. And we had loads of other seriously good (as in bad for you) stuff. Then again, we lived in what a friend caller a “tony shore community” in Connecticut. Not a good measure.
ReplyDeleteBWAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!
ReplyDeletePracticing my evil Halloween laugh.
Great bunch of Halloween memes. I woke up in the doldrums. In just a few hours Halloween will be over. *heavy sigh*
Happy Hallowe’en, Debra.
ReplyDeleteHaha Mariah Carey is defrosting lol. You made the day even more fun
ReplyDeleteI share your hatred of Kerr's molasses kisses, Debra. In the small prairie town where I grew up, cheap parents just kept recycling them year after year until the kisses became rock hard! My favourite shell-out treats were Cherry Chiclets and cherry lollipops....
ReplyDeleteHAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Happy Halloween. You love it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteI got candy (I dressed up as a sailor!) and enjoyed myself thoroughly handing out candy.
Also, I cackled at Youtube putting adverts in candy. Seriously, don't give them ideas! LMAOOO
XOXO
It's been a while, but as I recall, the weed made you WANT the candy!
ReplyDeleteI'm really surprised at kids choosing the potato, but having a baked potato after all that trick or treating seems worth it.
ReplyDeletehaha you made me laugh but i felt upset either ,please stop mentioning candy as i love sneakers :((( you know sweet is bad at this age right ?
ReplyDeletelast one is winner i agree :)
Happy Halloween dear Debra
blessings
As a kid, I loved circus peanuts. I wouldn't eat one now. I hated it when people gave out raisins. I still hate raisins. They're squishy in the mouth and look like dead flies.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Mariah Carey came out with the video her and a witch costume trolling us about her Christmas music
ReplyDeleteBelated happy Halloween! Been so busy this year I barely had time to follow other blogs. Anecdote: I liked molasse kisses, but only on the night.
ReplyDeleteNo, Mariah, no....
ReplyDeleteI adore raisins. Love them in my oatmeal. Love them as a snack and adore the fake chocolate Raisinettes uses.
P.S. I would choose potato, too. And circus peanuts rock... until you try to eat more than one.
The YouTube video adverts inside candy. BAHAHAHAHAHA These were great!
ReplyDeleteSo great. I love Halloween. Loved the worst treat lists and then I'm seeing Mariah Carey (sp?) everywhere now. So funny! Tim even texted me that her all I want for Christmas song was on yesterday. I do so love that song.
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic. I forgot all about those nasty peanut candies! The potato idea is a riot. I put a huge fake spider in the candy bowl one year for fun and was surprised by how many kids wanted to take it instead of the candy.
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten about those raunchy circus peanuts.
ReplyDeleteLAUGHING so hard at the kids choosing potatoes!
HaHa! I've never gotten a potato, but I've gotten all the other bad choices you shared. Once a guy gave me all the change in his pockets after he hit me with his car. The change included a New York Subway token, and I was living in Margaretsville, NS. Fortunately I wasn't hurt, and I went on to collect more raisins, popcorn balls, and apples. lol. I hope that you and your Rare One had lots of fun on Halloween!
ReplyDeleteI would have taken the potato too. :D
