I know many of you out there are writers,
some with published books and
some with works in progress (WIPs).
Since November is National Novel Writing Month,
here's a tribute to all you hardworking
and creative authors.
Wishing you every success!
Of course, writing books is not an easy job.
It is a long and difficult process.
Well, it's difficult for some writers
but not for others, HRH says.
Unlike cats, however, many human writers
can be plagued by the awful experience
of short-term or long-term writer's block!
Even worse than coping with writer's block, though,
is dealing with those picky assholes, editors!
However, despite all these
obstacles and annoyances,
don't despair!
Keep on writing!
hahahaha, i love the amazon review one.
ReplyDeleteLove it.
ReplyDeleteThese are, as usual, so funny. You always surprise me with ones I’ve never seen.
ReplyDeleteFunny and true!!!! Did I use too many exclamation points? I've had a WIP for the last 7 years...and one critique brought me to a complete stand still. The critique was valid, but I've not figured out a way to "fix" the problem...I've turned to cooking instead. I make a superb focaccia!!!!
ReplyDeleteI just got another rejection by email about two weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteBwahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!! That Dickens meme had me roaring.
ReplyDeleteI love Taika - if I could have dinner with any celebrity, he would be my choice. I have a brief 6 month period in which I tried to write.
ReplyDelete@ Lady M -- Yeah, he's so fresh and talented, isn't he!
ReplyDeleteEveryone has a story, tell us your story, now tell me more, and then what happened, how did that feel.
ReplyDeleteI just finished The Headland, Kindle Edition by Neil Theasby aka Yorkshire Pudding https://beefgravy.blogspot.com/
It is a well told story.
The map of the writers' block is, oh, it just is!!
ReplyDeleteI'd opt for that kind of writer's block.
ReplyDeleteThen again, maybe not. I'd be sued for plagiarism.
That first Amazon review cracked me up. I could spend all evening reading Amazon reviews. Often more entertaining than the item they are reviewing.
ReplyDeleteWriter's Block indeed!
ReplyDeleteThis was a lovely entry. The one with the dog overusing the exclamation point had me cracking up. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteEdgar Allan Typoe is me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this wonderful post. I am enjoying a lot of different novels lately. I do wonder about the same thing.
ReplyDeleteLike artwork, my writing attempts look better in my head!
ReplyDeleteLife would be so boring without writers!
ReplyDeletelike the author talking about writing.hahah
ReplyDeleteWriters, please keep writing! Who else will do it? If you have something to say, say it. Do not let your hearts be troubled.
ReplyDeleteLove the Amazon review and the Writer's Block.
ReplyDeleteI have a block on several pieces that I've started and probably will never finish.
I find time is my biggest problem not writers block. I so far at least still do a fulltime regular job and that means I simply do not have time to actually do much writing. I tend to write during work sometimes as well I must admit and I will send myself an email with whatever comes to mind - sometimes a whole lunch hour of writing so it takes me days to collate this and if I leave it a few months the WIP is just a muddle. I also do not write things in sequence so will write the middle or ending before the start of a novel. In fact I have been struggling for a good start for a few years now. The current and most likely to get published WIP began with a bit of writing back in 2017. The start though still eludes me despite I am actually writinga sequel. Somthing I really must deal with soon. Its much easier to write something like a recipe book - I have two published so far but recipes for natural beauty products not novels. Novels are easier because you can let your story just run and see where it takes you but also much more difficult because it needs to work if its going to sell.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I especially like the guy in the middle with writer's block.
ReplyDeleteThe "me when I started; me when I finished" ---- that's me except, I'm not actually finished yet.
ReplyDeleteThey are all superb!!!
ReplyDeleteIronic, funny and true at the same time
I barely wrote anything this month. Shame on me.
ReplyDeleteMust have read three lines of a Christmas crime fiction story this month. About yule logs. Don't ask.
ReplyDeleteI pour a story out onto paper and then whittle away at the block of words and only the last part I call writing.
ReplyDeleteWhich needs ime, undisturbed time. Anybody got some?
I'm doing NaNoWriMo this November, so I really enjoyed this post. :) I like the Writer's Block one. :D
ReplyDelete-Quinley
Trixie has it figured out. Be like Trixie!
ReplyDeleteAnd the Edgar Allan Typo...BAHAHAHAHA
I like to think of myself as a writer.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to sound like Debbie Downer but I really need to vent.
ReplyDeleteThe amateur writing community is often its own worst enemy.
The few times I have read the work of self published books by people I knew, they were absolute and complete garbage. I don't care about perfect grammar and spelling, those won't ruin a story for me. But there are a lot of people writing that shouldn't and it ruins the reputation of those who can't get an agent but should be writing.
General rule of thumb, an author should write because they have an amazing idea they need out of their head
Not because they want to make money or add another book to the collection
@ Adam -- I think everyone should be encouraged to express themselves creatively. We don't all have to be Shakespeare before being allowed to do so. There's room for everybody in the arts!
ReplyDeleteThis is great. I admire all the writers out there....I'm like the cat who fell asleep on her laptop. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post and thanks for the chuckle.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
I'm a writer and I laughed. I loved the looks into the camera and the cat finishing her novel is one night.
ReplyDeleteDelightful!
Well, you know why I haven't been commenting much!
ReplyDeleteE
OMG ~ I love these! Especially the exclamation point one!
