Hurray For Libraries and Librarians!

Why are both so valuable?

Librarians are
so much more
than stereotypes!

 Librarians can be badass too!

And libraries are often
pretty magical places!

Let's end with a GROAN, shall we?

  6. Libraries and librarians are under attack in the States (mostly republican states) where the haters are trying to and succeeding in banning books they think are pro-LGBTQ or in anyway don't tow their party line. It is frightening.

  7. Big fan of libraries here! Our son was called "the library baby" because we spent so much time there with him!

  8. I'm old enough to remember the days before there was a computer in every home. The library was often the place to go to get online. My two kids spent a lot of time at our local library when they were growing up. It was a favourite place to go on Saturday morning with them.

  11. Love libraries. Always have.
I agree that libraries are one of the only places in this commodified, consumerist, capitalist world where we can find something for free...

    XOXO

  12. I have worked in libraries and have always loved them! My favorite job! I checkout piles of books from my library and never have to buy a book. Hooray for libraries!!

  13. I love this so much! I love my public library. I have saved all of my old library cards over the course of my life (sentimental rubbish but at least they don't take up much space.) My dream when I was a youngster was to be the Bookmobile librarian - but not the one pictured above! I could never afford to read as much as I do if it weren't for the public library. Worth the tax dollars!

Also, the memes are on point and hilarious. Thank you, Debra!

  14. St. Louis County is rebuilding its whole library system. We are getting a new main library and most of the local libraries are having major upgrades or are being torn down and totally rebuilt.

  15. I used to spend hours in the library and I’d always volunteer to help put books away
When I became a stay at home mum one of the first things I did was join th local library.
As soon as the kids were old enough they got their own cards. It was a fortnightly trip to the library that helped me keep my sanity in those days

  18. I love libraries! Comes from my childhood ~ I used to spend hours in ours ~ especially on the top floor, where they kept the oldest books, and the newspapers and magazines... No other smell like that!
Thanks for bringing back a cherished memory!

  19. Love all of the library memes. Thank you. We are big fans of our local library. We easily have up to 50 books on our shelves right now from the library. The kiddos are voracious readers and love making trips down there to find their next adventures.

  25. Actually, libraries and the Internet can coexist quite nicely. Though ever since the beginning of the pandemic I've mostly used a home computer, and will continue to do so in the future, for 12 years before that I did my blog and anything else that needed to be done on the Internet on a library computer. Go to any library these days and you'll see everything is centered around the computer section. Nice thing to have if you can't afford a computer or your computer breaks down.

  32. Libraries are great places to find secret passages. Don't be afraid, just follow your question. Most of the time, you will be sent to the Dewey Decimal system. It is nothing to be afraid of. I have had good experiences with libraries and librarians. Ook.

  33. Libraries are endangered things, quite worrying. It seems when cuts have to be made those in power look for easy targets.

  34. Pavlov's dog and Schrodinger's car - Ooooh, you can't resist a pun.

  36. Forwarding this post to my librarian daughter in London.
The secret door in the library is everyone's secret dream I think. If I had the money, I would build a huge house with turrets, and secret doors and hidden hallways. Just for fun.

  37. The one with the secret passage! Yes, please. I'd LOVE to experience that.
