Coffee -- Is There Nothing It Can't Do?

Did you know that you
can PAINT with coffee?

I just took a fun class where we
drew and painted these cartoon critters
using light, medium, and dark
concentrations of instant coffee
(plus Sharpie markers for the outline
and for any non-sepia colours!)

The technique is essentially the same as
painting with watercolours!

Bonus: your painting smells good
while you're doing it!

And coffee art? Not only can you look at it, but the aroma is amazing!

  2. Without coffee, I lack personality.

  3. I've done fabric painting with coffee on silk, then embroidered it. It's a range of lovely colors.

  4. OMG ... the coffee ☕ pictures are just too cute!
Well, I did enjoy the memes, too! My Sunday morning cuppa, besides the 2 cups I did have!!!

  6. I love coffee so much. I must have it as soon as I get out of bed. I love having a cup of coffee in the morning when it is quiet and I listen to relaxing music or in the warm weather open the windows and listen to the birds. It's my Zen Coffee Hour! After that I can face the world. Your coffee paintings are so cute!

  9. Love the coffee art! It would be a sheer waste of coffee if I tried that. I had my first cup today since getting five teeth pulled Friday. I'm talking ambrosia!

  10. Coffee is my elixir of choice to face the day. I'd fail the coffee art class for sure because I'd drink the "paints"... and I also run with scissors!

  11. The first one puts into words exactly how I feel some days. Your coffee art is wonderful.

  12. Hello Debra, I love your coffee art, although those animals do not look wide awake despite being full of caffeine. Perhaps you used decaffeinated.

  14. I miss coffee! But I don't miss the headaches. Thank goodness for tea, the alternate caffeine delivery system

    Love the coffee memes, though!

  15. Instant coffee? How gauche. Everyone knows only French-pressed steamed coffee from Arabica beans grown organically then pooped out by endangered dolphins are required to get the best color tones. But I will admit you did an admirable job, especially given inferior materials.

  16. Love the coffee art. :D
The shades of brown you created really fit the subject matter.

Coffee can't cure my cold, but I'm still drinking loads of it anyway. ;)

  18. How to confess I am down to two cups...a week. Please don't hate me. They simply are the two cups someone else brews for me.

  19. @ Deedles -- Five extractions? Yikes! I hope your mouth heals up soon.

  20. @ Old Lurker -- Seriously, I despise the taste of French press coffee. WAY to strong for me! Gimme a cup of instant ANY day over that!

  21. I usual drink coffee between super medium to dark.
Coffee is on and stay safe.

  22. I used to drink 9 cups of coffee a day. I had to quit it recently due to its effect on my blood pressure and tremor. This is making me so nostalgic about drinking coffee!

  23. Seconding the healing vibes for Deedles. Five extractions is no joke.
