The very latest slur that haters have devised
for the LGBTQ+ community
is "DEMON" based on
this particular bit of what passes
for cleverness among them --
Is that the BEST
they've got?
Sheesh.
It didn't take long, of course,
for our mocking retorts
to come rolling in --
immediately reclaimed the slur
in classic LGBTQ+ fashion --
And here's my favourite
response so far!
(from a Tumblr blogger/artist)
DID YOU KNOW? A group of Pride demons is called a Parade!
So as this year's
TRANSLESBIGAYAPALOOZA
comes to an end,
thanks for celebrating with me!
And don't lose heart
in an increasingly hostile
environment . . .
REMEMBER --
Those demons look FABULOUS!
ReplyDeleteDemon: From the original Greek, daimΓ³nion, thing of divine nature!
ReplyDeleteGreat pride blogging this month! Go you!
ReplyDeleteThe Don't panic, organize is exactly what is needed!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe group of Demons at a Pride is called a Parade!!!!! LMAO!!!!!!
It was a good month.....Thanks Debra!!!
Happy Pride everyoneπ³ππππ³ππππ³ππππ³πππ
Proud every day, of every week, of every month, of every year. THANKS for a great month.
ReplyDeleteOhhh
ReplyDeleteThat's a shirt I'd like to have!
And I love how people just mock these idiots mercilessly on social media when they come up with some stupid shit like this.
I also really like the Don't Panic/ Organize! one. Yes.
Happy Pride!
XOXO
Totally off topic...that last one reminds me of my (Italian) grandmother. When the butcher tried to be friendly with her by greeting her with "Che se dice?" (What do you say?) She would reply with a rhyming retort, "Le pesce mangia l'alice" (The fish eats the anchovy) which left the butcher at a loss for words because he really didn't understand Italian.
ReplyDeletePride month in the uk has been fabulous. I’ve seen so many parades. The people all came out to support each other. It was heartwarming
ReplyDeleteI was thinking, why is there so much anger towards people who are claiming their own lives and their own bodies and then realized, it's because they are claiming their own lives and their own bodies.
ReplyDeleteWho the hell listens to Christians? You have to be dumber than a rock to believe in an immaculate conception, Satan, angels and demons.
ReplyDeletethe Ol'Buzzard
I'm so sick and tired of all this fucking hate...what is the matter with people?? sigh*****
ReplyDeleteHappy Pride!
ReplyDeleteI like what Mitchell found!
ReplyDeleteGood grief! What next? That is disgusting! Demon alright! Back at them!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great month of Pride focus, Debra! Well done!
I must be living in a cocoon that Christians can quote bible like this.
ReplyDeletei'm already looking forward to next year's pride month. that is if the world doesn't end first or we all don't get thrown into liberal thinkers jail. ugh, i hate being an american right now.
ReplyDeleteAs Joe Hill said, a century ago, "Don't despair. Organize!" I put it on my side bar. I will add this new iteration!
ReplyDelete"Fuck they figured us out!" OH haha. Thanks, shewhoseeks, I enjoyed this year's gaylapalooza Pride Month. I have a song for all of us-
ReplyDelete"Mister Big Stuff" by Jean Knight. An oldie but a goodie.
VOTE!!! There is something pathetic about the minds behind the first image. They really have hate in their hearts. Thanks for another though-provoking month, Debra!
ReplyDeleteDisappointed in our supreme court.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on, and stay safe.
'So does your god'. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt was another SPECTACULAR Pride month, Debra! Thanks for the rainbows.

I find it no more credible than a book of Greek mythology, but I DO own a Bible (revised standard version) and just now looked up that particular passage. God is bragging to Job about how he created the "leviathan", thought to be an ancient word for "crocodile". The Devil is indeed mentioned in the Book of Job, but as a gambler not a groomer (and can you guess who he makes his bet with?)
ReplyDeleteGood to know that a group of Pride demons is called a Parade 'cuz a group of regular demons is called a Legion...
ReplyDeleteThanks for another entertaining and edifying Translesbigayapalooza, Debra!
I've loved all your Pride Month posts, Deb!
ReplyDeleteAnd Happy Canada Day!
Hugs ~
bobbie
Happy Canada Day and thanks for all the pride month blogs!
ReplyDeleteThe negative connotation of demon comes from Christian negative doctrine. Own it, it'd make a brilliant t-shirt π❤️
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHA- OMG--What next!?! I call my dog a Demon in a Dogsuit...wonder where I could go with that?! lol
ReplyDeleteI always get a smile coming here, Debra. Love ya- kiddo---xo Diana
ps. Thanks for playing along on the blog--no bikini required---wait---please put something on! I said Laurie is the only person I know close to my age that could carry off a bikini. lol
Too much Hate going around these days and I think those Hate filled who call themselves Christians are the worst. I found the responses hilarious, it's always such Fun to mess with the Haters.
ReplyDeleteReligious Republicans are such simple minded creatures
ReplyDeleteI love Lily Simpson's comment, and the fish!
ReplyDeleteSo enjoyed the pride parade
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite Fracture Fairy tales is Hansel and Gretel where Gretel asks the witch if she's any good such as summoning demons. The witch lets out 'hey you demons!' only to summon a bird.
ReplyDelete"A group of Pride demons is called a Parade!" Great bunch of posts this year for pride month. LOVED them all! Let's keep fighting the good fight!
