The "coach: show me how fierce you are" is a riot and the garden gnomosexual is just the cutest. If I knew how to paint, I would probably make a fortune selling them.
Love the quotes by Dan Savage. I remember when salons were closed on Mondays...before I "came out" I would go to the beach to see all the cute gay hairdressers in their Speedos and bikinis.
These are all wonderful! Especially liked the Bear market Bottoming, and the little fierce boy. Hilarious and sweet. Btw, a former contestant on the GBBO is a gay rugby player. And he is dishy! E
"Bears" are a subgroup in the gay male community made up of (usually) older, huskier men who do not subscribe to the young/thin/muscular masculine stereotypes so often presented as the gay male "ideal."
ALL the Golden Girls (and the entire TV series) are icons in the gay male community (well, the older gay male community anyway; I don't think today's queer youth are invested in the GG anymore). They are icons in the same way as beloved drag queens are icons.
Before The Golden Girls Dorothy, Bea Arthur was that uncompromisin', enterprisin', anything but tranquilizin' right on Maude. Odd how that didn't make her a gay icon. Too soon, I guess.
LOL- OMG- I especially love the Family Feud reveal and the gnome! Too funny. My friend looks just like Dorothy and for years when she and I went anywhere people assumed we were a couple. She was mortified...I thought it was hysterical--neither of us is gay. Gotta love it! xo Diana
I watched an interview with Elliot Page on CBC. Enlightening! How brave he has to be to be himself as he walks in the world. So sad! And admirable! An example for our children! Live and let live is the least we can do!
Oh my god, the gnomosexual!
ReplyDeleteOh, the "gnomosexual"! HAHA I love that.
ReplyDeleteThe gnomes are priceless!
ReplyDeleteGnome Daddy, what a big hat he has.
ReplyDeleteDan Savage, as usual, was spot on!
ReplyDeleteFriend of Dorothy ... Zbornak? Yes, ma'am.
Fred and Barney? Hardly. Wilma and Betty were the clandestine power couple on that show.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the last time: Dorothy. Wasn't. Ugly. Periodt. The Golden Girls show was mostly great but all the "Dorothy is a dog" jokes got real tired.

Not sure what the bear has to do with being gay - please explain. Also is Dorothy Spornack like an icon in the gay community?
ReplyDelete@ Lady M -- It's my pleasure to explain!

ReplyDeleteI'll be sorry when June is over.
ReplyDeleteI love the gnome with the pride flag, where do I get one?
ReplyDeleteDan Savage speaks the truth.

ReplyDelete@ Marie Smith -- I saw that interview too! It was really good!
ReplyDeleteRepublicans don't like it when the NFL is pro LGBT, yet they ignore the Chicago Bears
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the Oakland Twinks to be a team
"Show them how fierce you are!" 😳😜😉 I died!!
ReplyDeleteStrut your stuff gnomes! LOL, I cracked up at the pursued by a bear meme.
ReplyDeleteThe not-so-fierce little boy is darling! Thanks for expelling the bear, because I didn't understand it. I wish I had seen that Family Feud question!
