A second full moon in August makes this date a rare Blue Moon! So my full moon altar honours the Roman goddess of the moon, Diana, as well as the Moon itself. And it's a "busy" altar!
Two white taper candles represent the two full moons which constitute a Blue Moon month. At their base is the appropriate card from my Moon Magic Oracle Cards deck.
Also on the altar are two marble Triple Goddess Moon symbols, one black, one white. Between them is a Goddess Diana stone which I got a few years ago at the Sacred Garden in Maui. To the left and right are representations of rabbits, a popular moon veneration symbol in Asian mythology. The little statuette is known as a Moon Gazing Hare and was sculpted out of clay by a Winnipeg artist about 30 years ago, based on ancient Asian art.
Here's a closeup of the Goddess Diana stone --
The round beaded silver altar cloth represents the glory and beauty of every full moon. Arranged around its perimeter are all the moon phase cards from the Moon Magic Oracle Cards deck.
Be sure to make a special wish today and harness the full power of the Blue Moon -- may your wish come true!

Ohhhh love this!
ReplyDeleteI will make sure I make a wish!!
XOXO
My main wish is for the rain to clear up so we can see the blue moon! Lovely array for this moon.
ReplyDeleteAn enchanting altar. I'll make a wish tonight. I hope yours comes true.
ReplyDeleteI will wish on the blue moon too!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful altar ... Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious altar! I love it. Every part is so well thought out. The silver beaded mat is so subtly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHow long do you leave your full moon altar up? Just for the day and night?
E
So you put this altar out once in a blue moon, right? 😁
ReplyDelete@E—This is Debra. I leave each altar up for the whole month usually. It’s part of my decor!
ReplyDeleteIs it me, or are those two candles a bit dodgy. Oh! Before you say it, it's me that's a bit dodgy.
ReplyDeleteHello Debra, You keep showing us these treasures from which you construct your altars, but now I am beginning to wonder where you keep them between times. Do you put them away, or have larger displays and vignettes with all your souvenirs?
ReplyDelete--Jim
@ Panassus (Jim) — This is Debra. Most of my Goddess statues are kept in a large display cabinet. Smaller items may be in drawers, closets or in my bookcases. I try not to have a cluttered looking home. But it is surprising how much stuff I have squirrelled away, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI always remember Diana the goddess because of Wonder Woman
ReplyDeleteI can sense the magic in the cards
ReplyDeleteIt’s beautiful
ReplyDeleteI love that everything has a meaning and nothing is there by chance.
Many blessings to you
Of all the Full Moon Altars you've done to date, this is my favourite! Love the silver beaded circular mat, white candles, moon PHAZE cards, and of course, the bunnies & Moon Gazing Hare!
ReplyDeleteI am impressed with the care you take to preserve and augment your altars.
ReplyDeleteI really like the design on the Goddess Diana stone. That it came from Maui makes it kind of poignant in light of recent events.
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovely Debra :o)
ReplyDeleteI hope your own wishes come true too :o)

I love this Altar. You always open my eyes to new things. I did enjoy the moon last night from way down here....and I hope you enjoyed it from way UP there. XO
ReplyDeleteI prefer the name Artemis Or Selene.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to this idea, Artemis, it is too much trouble. She has a difficult relationship with her step-father Zeus. He is such a jerk, and he probably watches fox news all day.
ReplyDeleteDear Silene djanum, dear Artemis, I have a few things. You are the protector of all Deer and also mice. Also do not despair, you are still here. I think of you everyday.
This altar is especially beautiful because I love the blue.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
full moon in watery Pisces. mum se she needs to get that deck to play with.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a spread ! Good for you !
ReplyDeleteStunning moon alter dear Debra. Loved everything representing it. I love looking at full moon and it was favourite hobby at night back in native home when I would stare moon for long while laying in yard cot or during swing
ReplyDeleteThanks for beautiful sharing. Loved the card with various moon phases
Beautiful alter. Cloudy here so didn't get a good view
ReplyDeleteIt was cloudy so I missed the Blue Moon that night..I saw it the next night..I always enjoy seeing a full moon..Did you do the water color bee on your sidebar?? I guess I don't usually go down that far..
ReplyDelete@ This N That -- Alas, no, those watercolour bees were not done by me. I wish they had been!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely, Debra! The Diana stone carving if really beautiful. The statue of the rabbit watching the moon. That's just a little more of an upward angle than I have to use to drive a short distance, so the statue makes my neck hurt ~ lol!
ReplyDeleteI had a very busy but spiritually juicy blue moon celebration.
