I saw that same quip about Dolly at a local used record store. I guess record store owners also read memes? Church owners read memes too, I guess: I have seen several churches post "We may not be Dairy Queen, but we have great Sundays" recently.
@ Old Lurker -- Lawyers in private practice do not unionize. Sometimes lawyers who work as in-house counsel can unionize -- for example, in Canada most prosecutors are unionized in Crown Counsel Associations to bargain collectively with their government employers.
As a Union member, I have benefited by getting a raise every year (although sometimes its delayed while contracts are negotiated), excellent health benefits, job security, and will get to retire at 55 with a healthy pension. Unions aren't perfect (what is?) but they do give the employees a stronger voice and status to get more out of their job than carpal tunnel syndrome and stress related health problems. I always love your humorous memes but that last one really takes the cake.
To be honest, I've always had mixed feelings about unions. While I do think they're (mostly) necessary in the private sector, I personally think they're quite useless in the public sector. And I say this as a form public sector employee who was in a public sector union for a number of years until I withdrew after some collusion between the government and the union coalition.
I think the memes featuring all of those depts fit the various bloated government entities that we have quite well.
Chardonyayyy!! Haha! Do I ever get to retire? If the republicans want to make America great again, how come that means we have to work even more years to earn less?
The first one says it all..but the rest are good too
ReplyDeleteI retired young. It's been 12 years. I'd have more money now. But I managed to hold onto one last shred of my sanity.
ReplyDeleteHappy September! To me the Labour Day weekend is the start of the new year. I loath January so moved my new year to the imminent arrival of Fall.
ReplyDeleteHello dear Debra
ReplyDeleteCan't say how I missed some latest posts
Happy Labour day
Enjoyed each :)
Hugs and blessings
Love the Dolly one ... also wish it was true ... and the wine recommendation!
ReplyDeleteCelebrate labor today by not doing any!

ReplyDeleteDo lawyers unionize?
There must be a department someplace that files all of the reports that I write, under rocks I think.
ReplyDeleteThat last one especially made me laugh. I've worked at a unionized job for the past 37 years and I'm thankful for that.

ReplyDeleteJust cuz is great. So is the Scrooge meme.
ReplyDeleteThey were all funny, but the ChardonYAYYY made me laugh for real!
ReplyDeleteAlso, me and Mitchell in the same boat... Sanity over filthy lucre any day.
Anyone wanna wrestle???
lololol on the Dolly song.
ReplyDeleteThere are people pushing for the 4-day work week. I hope they succeed.
ReplyDeleteThis is a funny selection too
ReplyDeleteThird one down pretty much describes so many jobs. Which leads to the last one ChardonYAYY. Getting fired was the best thing ever.
ReplyDeleteKarl Marx eyes are rolled backwards. That's why we can't see them.
ReplyDeleteThe Starbucks one is realistic!

"Pairs well with: Unemployment" -- AHAHAHAHAHA!
ReplyDeleteWhile some unions are better than others, I'd much rather be in a unionized job than not! Without a union, workers have zero protection.
Did someone talk to Dolly because I'd bet money she'd write that song, haha.
ReplyDeleteGiggling about the 7 hours left. Oy vey. I feel that one.
ReplyDeleteCheers and thanks, Debra.
..Labor day is sweet now that I'm retired!
ReplyDeleteChardonyayyy!! Haha! Do I ever get to retire? If the republicans want to make America great again, how come that means we have to work even more years to earn less?
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
*Pairs nicely with: Unemployment*

As Mike Royko's Slats Grobnik once said, if work is supposed to be so great, why do they have to pay you to do it?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laughs! I hope you had an enjoyable Labor Day weekend, Debra. These funnies are hilarious!
ReplyDeleteThe Scrooge meme is waaaaaaaaay too on point
ReplyDeleteNo I'm pretty sure the corporation that wouldn't care if I died would treat me better than a union
ReplyDeleteWait a minute
