Our neighbors gave us a very realistic “uncarved”large artificial pumpkin a few years ago so we can display it without any guilt about destroying a perfectly good edible vegetable. Now to select the candy for the little ghouls and boys and in quantities that will insure that I will have chocolate until Christmas.
What a hoot these were!!!!! I loved the first gif!!!!! It was adorable, I may steal it. And I love pumpkins!!! I will carve maybe two, but most will fill the planters and window box out front.
Time to get my sugar pumpkin for the front step. I don't carve it, because it's to become soup after a couple of weeks. It's been so warm here that I hadn't remembered it.
Lucy gets my vote. The round orange pumpkins are useful for carving but terrible for cooking. We grew three butternut squash this year in our small garden boxes. They made good soup!
Because they are so cool. Because they give us pepitas. Because we can't have a milpa without them. There is nothing like going to the milpa early in the morning and checking on the flowers and watching the bees. I know that I have to go do chores, but I have a pumpkin patch. My definition of pumpkin also includes zucchini. I like them all. Deep thoughts.
I saw the wildest jack-o-lantern on line somewhere - I hope you can google it. Someone stabbed a few holes in a face shape and then filled the holes with peanut butter and left the pumpkin for the squirrels to 'carve'. Holy Freak Show! It was amazing, awesome and creepy as hell! cheers, e
All hail Lucy!

ReplyDeleteStephen Colbert's pumpkin comes out on top this time.
ReplyDeleteThat butt-naked pumpkin mutilating its own face is really disturbing. Also, it is nowhere near the time for one of your full-moon altars.
