Since it's Friday the 13th today,
should we try to ward off even more bad luck
by avoiding black cats?
Let's consider all the arguments . . . .
Now, equal time for the other side . . . .
The truth, as it usually does,
probably lies somewhere in the middle . . . .
So Friday the 13th should be declared . . . .
Hello Debra, Just yesterday, a black cat walked in front of me, but it had white socks, so does that count?

I like black cats...but I love grey ones!
ReplyDeleteThirteen is just a number of change...make it from negative to positive 🙂
Love this. I’ve had two beautiful black cats and loved them and miss them.
ReplyDeleteJayne in Ontario.
Goodness! This is exactly what I needed this morning!
ReplyDeleteAll things considered, black cats receive more bad luck from humans than vice versa. So I agree with you -- Friday the 13th should be declared "Black Cat Appreciation Day"!
ReplyDeleteThere is a Black Cat Appreciation Day already--on August 17.
ReplyDelete@ Jamie Ghione -- Oh, I didn't know that! Thanks for the info!
Delete...I wish you good luck.
ReplyDeleteI love black cats, and black sheep.
ReplyDeleteWe've not heard from Her Highness in a while. What are her thoughts on the Black Cat Controversy?
ReplyDelete@ BootsandBraids -- Cats are ALWAYS good luck! Humans are just STUPID.
DeleteBlack cat crossing left to right: good luck. Crossing right to left: bad luck. The last word.
ReplyDelete@ Boud -- Well, THERE'S a nice loophole! Must have been thought up by a cattorney.
DeleteThose are great, I have had three black cats. I count myself lucky.
ReplyDeleteI love all of these! Especially "... how the world ends!" And, "... I don't bring bad luck ..." LOL
ReplyDeleteI like these, especially the last one.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha
ReplyDeleteKitty's right: it's all about BALANCE.
XOXO
I'm sure HRH appreciates your use of the Fairness Doctrine to battle the bad rap on black cats!! I wish today could actually be a day to harness the evil of all cats and direct it toward the haters of both real cat-ladies and imaginary "cat-eaters!" 🤬 Rowr! 🤬
ReplyDeleteWe've had many black cats in our family, never a bad one. Ornery, yes, certainly. Spooky? Occasionally. But never bad. My favorite combo is two cats: an all black and an orange tabby. Sublime!
ReplyDeleteThere's a "thing" here in South Carolina about all the black cats up for adoption because the religious folk think they are of the Devil ... makes me wanna adopt about twenty and let them fill the windows of Casa Bob Y Carlos!
ReplyDeleteThose are good. Happy weekend, Debra.
ReplyDeleteBlack cat appreciation day has a much better ring to it and I like flipping the script on them crossing your path is bad luck. It is much more positive and cooler saying that they are giving you a warning.
ReplyDeleteHa! These definitely capture that classic cat passive-aggressiveness.
ReplyDeleteWe had two black cats in the States. Brothers who were so sweet and loving and never caused any trouble. Well, that’s an exaggeration. But they were never mean, aggressive, or malicious. No devilish tendencies. I love people who adopt black cats. They can often be so hard to place.
ReplyDeleteYou put forward a message very effectively through this collective of memes
ReplyDeleteBlack cats are the best.
ReplyDeleteSome of my best cats were black. Fond, fond memories, Kreuger and Pasha.
ReplyDeleteFriday the 13th has always been a lucky day for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Groucho on this one.
ReplyDeleteLife is definitely about balance.
ReplyDeleteI was only afraid of black cats if a ladder was nearby.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post. I love the one, "I don't bring bad luck your life was already shit." Just too funny and so fricken true. You have a nice day today.
ReplyDeleteA cat is a cat is a cat. Love them all no matter what the color.
ReplyDeleteI give you love with my teeth! lol.
ReplyDeleteHilarious and all enjoyable :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for smiles and laugh friend
I am happy that my phobia for cat as little girl left when mom pet a cat and i realized how cute and harmless it was :)
I never understood the black cat thing; they're all lovely. Well, unless they're trying to murder you, then they're not that lovely. 🤣
ReplyDeleteOur black cat was the most independent cuss I ever met. Sort of a middle child. Love the "how the world really ends"
ReplyDeleteI love black cats! If I were to get another one it would be a black one.
ReplyDeleteDeliciously funny!
