  5. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!!!!

Call me a cranberry snob, but I can not do canned cranberry sauce. I use the ole family recipe of cranberry and orange.... relish style.

  6. Happy Thanksgiving.

Carlos is THAT guy who makes his own cranberry sauce and it is delicious.
    Lastly: ribbed for your pleasure!!!

  8. We would get invited to Thanksgiving Dinner with the in-laws. I would make the homemade orange cranberry sauce. The last time I made it was just that; we got to the dinner and they had already put out cranberry sauce, straight from the can. THAT all went. Mine was never touched. Never made it again after that.

  9. I always make cranberry sauce with our middle grandchild. It’s her favourite food this time of year. Love that tradition.

  10. Happy Thanksgiving and I agree, cranberry sauce should come in a can:)

  11. Happy Thanksgiving! I had a good laugh at the cranberry jokes. I need to check the freezer and see if I have any lingering there from last year.

  12. ๐Ÿคฃ Homemade cranberry sauce frightens me! I don't know what's in there or why my host is trying to kill me!! ๐Ÿคจ

  13. I love making my cranberry recipe. At least it doesn't taste like a tin can and looks better, not like a can of dog food. Happy Thanksgiving.

  14. Pleased to see you back. Sorry this is rather late, I have vision issue too.

  15. Love the dog can cranberries. Truth be told, I do prefer them over homemade cranberries relish. Just what you get used to, I guess.

  16. Happy Thanksgiving Debra. Aside from canned cranberry, what are you eating? Are their Thanksgiving specialties specific to Canada? Like sweet potatoes cooked in maple syrup?

    1. @ Lady M -- Nope, we don't have any specifically Canadian Thanksgiving delicacies, just the standard dishes!

  17. Happy Thanksgiving, Debra! October makes more sense for a harvest festival, imo. In November all we have to celebrate are the dead leaves clogging the storm drains.
Love the memes! Ribbed for your pleasure is hilarious. Have some pie, grrl!

  18. Either or.
Just don't call me late to the table!

  19. Happy Thanksgiving. I prefer canned cranberry sauce! Yum!

  20. Hello Debra, Happy Thanksgiving! At least one country has reason to celebrate. For those who prefer the canned version, why don't they cut out all the explanation and just call them canberries?

  21. Happy Thanksgiving. I'll have to remember that about the pie for my next Thanksgiving. I like the canned kind of cranberry sauce too.

  22. Happy Thanksgiving to you, dear Debra who seeks! When I was a kid, I thought that’s how cranberries were supposed to look! I didn’t appreciate that it was ribbed for my pleasure. And that’s so true about pie. SG and I used to split a pie in half and insist we each only had one piece.

  23. Love the last one. Hilarious

  27. I second it, Cranberries from scatch.

  28. Happy Thanksgiving, Debra. We had our family dinner yesterday, turkey and all the trimmin's. Tanya made cranberry sauce from scratch. Seven adults, one picky toddler and a non picky German Shepherd. Enough food for 20 people.

  29. Oh, someone remembered Canadian Thanksgiving! Bravo for you.

  30. Pumpkin pie works best in two pieces--the pie and the whipped cream on top.

    Happy Canada Thanksgiving.

  31. In the shape of dog food. lolololololololol. It's funny how true this is about cranberry sauce. So funny.

  33. It all feels a bit weird watching you guys across the Atlantic celebrating Thanksgiving but if it gets you an extra day off go for it. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  35. Happy Thanksgiving! I really like the last one. Ohhh OK the cranberry is pretty good too. In the can or on the stove I could eat cranberries every day. Have a great day today.

  41. Darling Debra,

How we have missed your most singular brand of wit and humour. It is refreshing to be back.

And, it is good to be reconnected with the whole world in the Blogosphere and know what is going on out there. Thanksgiving with or without dog food shaped Cranberry Jelly seems to have passed us by....we really need to get out more!!!

Hoping that you enjoyed a great Thanksgiving and let us all give so many thanks for the wonderful gifts we have when so many in the world have so little.

  42. Hope you had a great day! The cranberry sauce ones are funny. Strangely enough I was thinking, only this morning, I am one of those heathens who prefers tinned ham to the real thing.

  43. I actually prefer the canadian Thanksgiving to the American one: it gives a bank holiday in October and it's a sort of prelude to Halloween.
