Beware of the American Taliban

  1. My very religious girlfriend is horrified by how 'good' Christians are acting. Even my stepdaughter and her hubby only think that white folk are Christian.
I asked them what they thought of is Jesus was not white but a brown person?
    They had NO answer.
Don't hide behind religion. Treat all people with kindness.

  2. The so called Christians don't actually read the New testament. They're all in the old testament, which is not about Christianity at all.

  3. ...Debra, this is fabulous, I'm passing it on.

  4. Some good ones Debs! Especially the second one. He is about as Christian and religious as Hitler and Satan are.

  5. All perfection.
Jimmy Carter lived his faith, he didn't shriek it.
And I have been calling them Nat C's for a while now.

  6. I just love Betty Bowers!
"Nat C": how perfect is that???

  7. 👍 "God" bless Mrs. Betty Bowers and that nice guy who now calls himself Leo (I do love a good shepherd with a twinkle in his side-eye)! 😘

  8. NatC? Perf.
And I read about the lady calling the churches for baby formula. Absolutely demonstrated what 'christianity' is in the U.S.
    Betty Bowers!!!

  9. One of my daughters just told me yesterday about that Tic Tok lady and the crying baby.
    I am not shocked.
I am constantly amazed though, at ho twisted so many people's "interpretation" of the Bible can be in order to justify their hatred and greed.

  10. God protect me from your followers. Nothing Christian about them.

  11. I’m going to start using Nat C’s so I don’t get in trouble with blogger, a violation for using Nazi, in my blog text.

  12. These are perfect! Sadly…they are perfect!

  13. Deb, these are perfect everyone of them. I'm sharing some of these if you don't mind.

  14. I've always felt if you need to tell someone what you are - you aren't that! ex: I don't lie. Yep you're lying now. I am Christian - nope you don't act like one. You get what I 'm saying.

  15. Nat C is perfect. All of these are true, maybe even the gospel truth.
I've always distrusted religion in general, now I actively abhor christianity. At least the american version.
    It's a shitshow down here.

  16. Great post, Deb! Organized religions have always drawn hypocrites to them like flies to shit, but American Nat Cs and Maple MAGAs are the dung beetles of Christianity.

    1. @ Tundra Bunny -- Flies and dung beetles wish to distance themselves from such comparisons, I bet.

  17. The Jimmy Carter and Pope Leo quotes are so true! Before painting American Christianity with too broad of a brush, Christian Nationalism is pretty much a Southern thing. Where I live (Detroit), I have never encountered a Christian Nationalist and don't even know where they would worship. I am a lifelong Catholic and the present heavy focus of the Church (just about every sermon frankly) is support and respect for immigrants and the poor.

    1. @ Contrary Guy -- It's true that we must distinguish between those Christians who follow the teachings of Christ and those who do not. "By their acts shall ye know therm" is a good guide to which is which. Even within any one denomination, variations will occur. You and JD Vance are both Catholics, for example, but I would definitely put JD Vance in the American Taliban category.

    2. Agree on all. JD Vance is a Catholic in name only and doesn't live the faith. Pope Francis initially refused to meet him and instead had someone sit down and lecture him when he visited the Vatican. Pope Leo pointed words for the most part reject MAGA, Trump and JD Vance without using specific names.

  18. Extremism masquerading under patriotic or religious banners threatens the very freedoms and values so many claim to defend. You would think we would have learned our lessons from history but here we are repeating it all over again.

  19. I just despise Adam's religions

  20. Much applause for these. And remember Jimmy Carter? In addition to ethics-based, make politics boring again.

  21. Christianity isn't as bigger deal in the UK but we still have our issues with the flag shaggers and "patriots" who are more about racism than it is about what's best for our country.

    1. @ CaptainKirt -- "Flag shaggers" -- hahahaha, great phrase, I must remember it! We've got Maple MAGAs in Canada too who love to co-opt our flag as one of their "freedom" symbols.

  22. When I turned 18 I voted Democratic mainly because I was turned off by what was then called the "Moral Majority". It's gotten only worse since then.

  23. I saw a reel of a pastor saying that they lady ringing asking for baby formula was evil.
I just am gobsmacked at just how these peoples brains work
I so wish that Jesus would come down and smite them. Honestly I’d set up a deck chair and sit drinking margaritas watching the show

  24. I'm stealing a few of these for Saturday jokes.

  25. Nat C's is definitely appropriate. Those people don't have anything to do with Christianity.

  29. This is so spot on, Debra! It's the rise of Christian Nationalism that had driven me away from church. I have been rereading the Gospel, because in this acrimonious time, I need to reread what Jesus truly taught, his message of love, kindness, peace, and caring for the poor, sick, and marginalized. Religion has done terrible things to people throughout history. Sanctimonious, hypocrites who impose their hateful beliefs on others make me angrier than almost anything else.
