Sunday Selections #778 -- Colour of the Month: Electric Rose

For today's Sunday Selections,
a blog hop party of photography challenges
hosted by River of Drifting Through Life --

I'm fulfilling the Colour of the Month prompt
provided by Charlotte of MotherOwl's Musings.

This month's colour is Electric Rose.

Here's what I found around my place
to fulfill the colour prompt.

1. Household Bucket and Tai Chi Fan

The household bucket is kind of self-explanatory, LOL.
My tai chi fan has a beautiful pink peony on it.

Here's the fan opened wide for a better view.
Back in the day when I was doing an extensive tai chi practice,
I used this in a "tai chi kung fu fan" routine.
If you'd like to know more about that, click here.

2. T-shirt and Nightie

I don't usually wear a lot of pink
(too girly-girl for me), so these are
the only two clothing items I have in that colour.

I never attended or got a degree from the U of A,
but I worked there for quite a few years in a legal think tank.

I love the pink (and black) kitties on the nightie!
Its background colour is actually a very light pink too,
but it doesn't really show up in the photo.

This nightie is as old as the bloody hills
but I keep holding on to it for some reason.

Oh, who am I fooling? KITTIES!

  2. ...Debra, when I was in the nursery business I had a customer who would ask what color pink is this. And I would say 78 on the pink scale. There sure are a bunch of colors out there!

  3. I love this color! I know this as "opera pink". That fan is gorgeous.

  4. As a kid I didn't like pink but now I enjoy it.

  5. I don't think we have any pink in the house or in our clothes. I'll have to search ....

  6. Love your bucket!
Of course I had to look up the tai chi kung fu post! Lethal!

  7. Those truly are some Electric pink items. I like that fan, even if it's not a real Japanese Killer Fan ;)

  8. Hello Debra, I have precious little in that deep shade of pink, oddly, mostly mop and brush handles. I am guessing that the mops originally came in both blue and pink, but the blue ones sold out, so it was the pink ones or nothing. Pink mops are actually kind of insulting. How many women feel dainty and feminine because they can use pink mops while scrubbing the floors?

For lighter pink shades I have even less. One or two book spines (red ones often fade to pink) and, like you, a bucket--not one that I bought but one that was already in this apartment when I moved in. Oh, wait. I checked my spreadsheets, and I do have one antique pink object, which I will email to you.

  10. I just realized that I have nothing pink.

  11. Fitting that February is pink. Either this or red.

  12. My ten-year old grandson has a jacket just that electric rose color and he loves it and wears it all the time. I think he is completely unaware that pink is associated with girls and if he does know that, he certainly doesn't care. I love that so much. I love him so much. I love his parents so much.

  13. I have a sweater in that color. I get compliments every time I wear it, so the shade must suit my complexion.

  14. I'm impressed that you have an electric Rose pink bucket in your house over that of the household of a drag queen!

  15. I have a light pink sleep shirt with kitties drinking lattes. My other favorite is a hot pink sleep shirt with white peace signs all over it. Really cute.

  16. Yeah pink has never been my color either for the same reason as you. I do like your fan. I have several myself. Have a very nice day today.

  17. Olá Debra. Eu te confesso que só tenho uma peça, cor rosa. Grande abraço do seu amigo do Brasil.

  18. Didn't dare wear that color in my formative years, "No, no young man, don't call attention to your gay mental illness." Purchased a Nike windbreaker in black, gray and a stripe of pink with pink bike shorts in the 70s, rode my bike to work and prompted a group of guys to yell FAGGOT! at me. Had suicidal thoughts that night. Today, in my old age, I'd wear that color from head to toe and tell the hecklers, "Bring it on assholes, it's just a color and I look fabulous, dahling."
The mental harm we do to ourselves is often more destructive than the words and actions of others. Lesson learned the hard way.

  19. oof, pink. Not my color either. I think the only pink I might have are the peonies in the yard. Love that you did tai chi - now that's something I'd love to try. Looks so meditative. Hope you're staying warm up there ... it is friken freeeeezing down here

  20. I just looked around and no pink here, other than the pink top I bought last week and posted!

  21. I get colours mixed up, I have a thing where certain colours look the same to me.

  22. I like pink, but I prefer pastels. I usually don't like anything I think is gaudy. However, I have a silk blouse in that bright pink color. Love your fan.

    Love,
    Janie

  23. While I detest hot pink decor, I do wear hot pink shirts on occasion. Pastel colours wash me out, so I gravitate to brighter colours such as blue, turquoise or purple.

  24. Pink kitties are the best. I too don’t have much in the colour pink.
If I wear it. I feel like a giant lollipop

  25. What a fun idea/challenge. I’m going to have a look around the house for electric rose. I hope to be surprised.

  26. I have NEVER seen a household bucket in that gorgeous pink, if I had I would have bought a half-dozen of them. I love the kitties on the nightie and now remember a pair of pyjamas I had that would fit the colour but sadly they became cleaning rags years ago. An electric pink t-shirt would clash wth my too-pink-too-often cheeks, so I stick with cooler colours or black.

  27. I just watched the Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan rutine and I am so impressed that you learned that. I did a few weeks of Tai Chi several years ago and found it relatively easy, but had to quit, there were too many women in the class and too many who were much taller, it got difficult when stepping and having someone tall right up in my business.

  28. I have always associated February to the color pink

  29. Dear Debra, I feel the same way about the color Electric Rose as you do – there aren't many girly pink options here. (Although, in a moment of courage, I once bought both a pink shirt and a pink skirt. But I don't wear either of them very often 😉) Your Kitties nightie is very cute; I would keep it too 😻.

All the best from Austria, Traude

  31. I had a pink phase a decade or two ago, mostly because it looked good with my complexion. Now it's purple all the way!
Love the fan. I have a martial art fan (actually a couple of them) and love that they are 'hidden' weapons.

  32. I am so happy you posted your Selections! You found plenty of pink, while I have to look, it's scant here.

  33. It's odd but buckets such as these are usually in bright colors, at least, I've seen them.

I don't wear pink either or even red, guess I'm used to not standing out. I hear wearing bright colors such as pink lifts your mood.

The kitties in you nightie is cute, no need to throw it away.

    Have a lovely day.

  34. I support that color. With me, I don't wear it . You have to have it. It reminds of the beautiful colors of us. It reminds of me of being in the country .
Is it pink, is it magenta? Is it the color of tunas, when you are trying to make cactus jelly?
This color has so many associations.
I think it is a fugitive. It is always welcome.
