By the way, funny how in Asterix (and other versions) Brutus is depicted as, well, brutish, a hulking man, while in real life he was an intellectual and and an idealist. He was the moral caution of the conspiracy.
The last one with the cat "Et tu, Brute?" had me laughing, dear Debra! And "Brutus, stop playing about with that knife, you'll end up hurting somebody!" Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend.
Doing a bit of catch up this morning, and I couldn't miss the daggers. :) These are great. I wonder if the dagger companies sold a lot of them today. :)
Ah Brutus you too is popular line many writers used in their novels in humorous ways I am not fan of julius Caesar but that scene was heavy and unforgettable
...I'm a bit busy and won't be able to make it, perhaps next year!
ReplyDeleteSuch an underrated holiday!
ReplyDeleteInvented by Big Dagger!!!
ReplyDeleteTime for the annual rewatch of Rinse The Blood Off My Toga! This never gets old: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rR_5h8CzRcI
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous -- Classic Wayne and Shuster! I grew up watching them on CBC TV!
DeleteToo funny. Corporate Rome at work. Happy Ides, everyone..
ReplyDeleteGood ones.
ReplyDeleteI'd never given a thought to celebrating the Ides of March but somehow this year...
ReplyDeleteI need to contemplate this.
Isn’t it cool that cats fit into any situation? Jayne
ReplyDeleteThe Ides of March -a good tribute -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteIf I were still in work I'd use that work meeting excuse!
ReplyDeleteLove all of this! I used knife for Tom's Letter K this week!

ReplyDeleteI forgot that it was the Ides of March. The Wayne & Shuster bit was funny.
ReplyDeleteIt's my violent and abusive ex's birthday - how many times did I think of Julius Caesar... So Many! Settled on divorce instead.
ReplyDelete@ e -- You made the wise choice. Glad you got out okay!
DeleteAnother reason why I try to avoid meetings.

ReplyDeleteThese are so good! I almost forgot about his meeting with his Senators. He should have chosen a zoom.

Maybe Donald Trump will get so lucky.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Oh the irony - or simply put, non-fiction - of Oprah passing out knives to everyone around.
ReplyDeleteI thought Caesars obituary might be put out there by some American news source attempting to appease the masses.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of knives, I've never seen a Knives Out movie, yet.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many events to celebrate in the week that started last Friday that I almost forgot about the Ides!
ReplyDeleteAnd we can all guess who the nominees are for this year!
ReplyDeleteI like a nice knife. Great ones today.
ReplyDelete“surrounded by his friends.” How Fox News writes a story.
ReplyDeleteI am not found of assassination even when the b=stard deserves it. Often they become martyrs and expand far beyond themselves.
ReplyDeleteOne of the cruelest ironies of history.
ReplyDeleteA cathartic post
ReplyDeleteIsn't that cat the cutest? Perfect shot.
ReplyDeleteOh no. I’ve missed it.
ReplyDeleteIt’s already the 16th here
Ugh, Oprah, I have never liked her. Love the cute kitty. I won't be attending any dagger parties.
ReplyDeleteAnd another underappreciated holiday goes by without the proper reenactment....
ReplyDeleteWhat a good excuse not to attend a work meeting!
ReplyDeleteDang! I forgot all about that! Oscarfest just blotted it out.
ReplyDeleteTimes haven't changed. 😱
ReplyDeleteThat cat picture/caption is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteCan I use this knife on trump? pretty please?
ReplyDeleteALWAYS the best curation EVER!!!!!!!!
