I'm taking part today in
Monday Murals hosted by Sami.
We saw this great chicken mural in
Vancouver's Chinatown while we were
visiting British Columbia in August, 2019.
Unfortunately, I don't know the artist's identity.
But that chicken is a STAR!
* * * * * UPDATE * * * * *
Here's what the mural is all about!
(Thanks, Tom, for your awesome research)
"Freebird is an Asian-style rotisserie chicken shack.
We serve flavourful free-range, hormone-free chickens with tasty sides.
Freebird is the newest addition to award-winner
Chef Angus An’s culinary adventures."
Unfortunately, this Vancouver restaurant appears to have
closed during Covid and never reopened.

That is so cool!
ReplyDeleteSimple elements can make a big impact.
ReplyDelete...I found this-http://www.freebirdchickens.com
ReplyDelete@ Tom -- Thanks for that link! Awesome research!
DeleteGood mural!
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome framed in a kitchen!
ReplyDeleteThe artist did a great job.
ReplyDelete🤣🎶🐔 OMG!! A restaurant named FREEBIRD! It writes itself!
ReplyDelete"If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?...Cause I'm as free as a bird now
And this bird you cannot change"
If someone buys that space, please don't change the bird!!! 🙏🫶
Very cool bird. Great name for the restaurant, too.
ReplyDeleteI really like it, Debra.
ReplyDeleteDebra, that is a fantastic mural! Too bad about the restaurant closing, as it sounds like a great place to dine!
ReplyDeleteCute chicken. Now I’ve got the One Week by Barenaked Ladies in my head. Jayne
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous (Jayne) -- Sorry about that!
DeleteI always say that chickens have done more for the human race than any religion ever has.
ReplyDelete@ Ms. Moon -- And you are absolutely right.
DeleteYes, it's a chess board... let's play ⏲️
ReplyDeleteHow fun is that mural!? And to think it's not even a year of the cock!
ReplyDeleteCool looking chicken.
ReplyDeleteIt's so simple and really a great ad that, sadly is for a business that closed.
ReplyDeleteI cannot decide what I like most - the way the chicken live(d), how fun the mural is or how the blogger-world works together!
ReplyDelete@ Iris Flavia -- Enjoy all three! (with tasty sides)
DeleteThey may be closed, but...

DeleteWhat a bold bird! Love the strong lines and simple shapes.
ReplyDeleteI always ponder how they get they line so crisp painting on such an uneven surface.
ReplyDeleteJ’adore le quartier chinois de Vancouver.
ReplyDeleteMes restaurants préférée sont les Legendary Noodle House et Mott 32. :)

Freebird, Lynyrd Skynyrd , a striking mural, and now I'm hungry. 😂. Happy Monday, Debra! ❤️🌺
ReplyDeleteThat’s great chicken art. It’s a shame it will have departed with the restaurant.
ReplyDeleteI love ❤️ this chicken 🐔 mural, Debra.
ReplyDeleteLove the story!
ReplyDeletePity the restaurant had to close. I was just downtown Chicago this past weekend and we went to this awesome little restaurant in the courtyard of one of those old early XX century buildings downtown. The whole building was offices and restaurants and now the last business open is that restaurant and they were telling us they survived the pandemic by miracle. The building is fabulous but empty and in need of some repairs. If I had the money....
XOXO
@ Kirk -- Sorry, I inadvertently deleted your comment. But I agree with you -- the chicken is indeed reminiscent of the rooster on the Kellogg's Corn Flakes box!
ReplyDeleteI love the chicken!
ReplyDeleteGreat chicken mural. I have recently discovered a huge chicken mural in Fremantle :) It's a pity when businesses close due to unfortunate circumstances. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Debra.
ReplyDeleteToo bad the restaurant closed, but at least the awesome mural is still there for everyone to enjoy!
ReplyDeleteVery artistic
ReplyDeleteThat chicken is a STAR!
ReplyDeleteThat’s a neat looking mural.
ReplyDeleteRooster ran away and restaurant closed ?
ReplyDeleteThat chicken really does steal the show! Love how vibrant and full of character it is, almost like it could crow its way right off the wall. Shame the restaurant closed, but at least the mural lives on!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very cool chicken.
