Monday Murals -- Chinatown Chicken

I'm taking part today in
Monday Murals hosted by Sami.

We saw this great chicken mural in
Vancouver's Chinatown while we were
visiting British Columbia in August, 2019.

Unfortunately, I don't know the artist's identity.

But that chicken is a STAR!

* * * * *  UPDATE * * * * *

Here's what the mural is all about!
(Thanks, Tom, for your awesome research)

"Freebird is an Asian-style rotisserie chicken shack.
We serve flavourful free-range, hormone-free chickens with tasty sides.
Freebird is the newest addition to award-winner
Chef Angus An’s culinary adventures."

Unfortunately, this Vancouver restaurant appears to have
closed during Covid and never reopened.

🤣🎶🐔 OMG!! A restaurant named FREEBIRD! It writes itself!
    "If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?...Cause I'm as free as a bird now
And this bird you cannot change"
If someone buys that space, please don't change the bird!!! 🙏🫶

  9. I always say that chickens have done more for the human race than any religion ever has.

  12. It's so simple and really a great ad that, sadly is for a business that closed.

  13. I cannot decide what I like most - the way the chicken live(d), how fun the mural is or how the blogger-world works together!

  16. I always ponder how they get they line so crisp painting on such an uneven surface.

  19. That’s great chicken art. It’s a shame it will have departed with the restaurant.

  21. Love the story!
Pity the restaurant had to close. I was just downtown Chicago this past weekend and we went to this awesome little restaurant in the courtyard of one of those old early XX century buildings downtown. The whole building was offices and restaurants and now the last business open is that restaurant and they were telling us they survived the pandemic by miracle. The building is fabulous but empty and in need of some repairs. If I had the money....

    XOXO

  22. @ Kirk -- Sorry, I inadvertently deleted your comment. But I agree with you -- the chicken is indeed reminiscent of the rooster on the Kellogg's Corn Flakes box!

  23. Great chicken mural. I have recently discovered a huge chicken mural in Fremantle :) It's a pity when businesses close due to unfortunate circumstances. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Debra.

  27. That chicken really does steal the show! Love how vibrant and full of character it is, almost like it could crow its way right off the wall. Shame the restaurant closed, but at least the mural lives on!
