I'm taking part today in
Monday Murals hosted by Sami.
This colourful Jester is the logo of the
North America's oldest and largest
annual festival of alternative theatre.
This indoor mural is a large donor recognition wall
located in the Old Strathcona Arts Barns
in the neighbourhood where the
Fringe Festival occurs every August.
I have "fringed" for many years and it's a fun time!

ReplyDelete@ Rommy -- Amateur and emerging playwrights, actors, singers, comedians, drag artists, etc. have the opportunity to present their plays in many, sometimes strange, venues at a reasonable ticket price for a run of 7 to 10 days. Everything about it is weird, funky, and often wildly creative. Pretty much anything goes. Sometimes things that start out as fringe plays end up later as huge mainstream theatrical successes.
DeleteSounds like another reason to travel to Edmonton one summer.

ReplyDeleteIn my misspent youth I went a couple of times to the Edinburgh Festival and the Fringe when it started. Great fun.

ReplyDeleteOur fringe is in June and has grown exponentially over the past 2 years.
ReplyDeleteI haven't gone to our fringe festival since before the pandemic. Maybe this year.

ReplyDeleteJ’ai assisté aux festivals Fringe à Montréal, Halifax, Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon et Victoria au Canada, ainsi qu’au Festival d’Édimbourg en Écosse.

ReplyDeleteFringe festivals are no long fringe. They have become big places for young artists, comedians or whoever the festival is celebrating to gain exposure

I'm all for the fringe, and any festivals they may partake in.
