Oh Anette, My Anette

I have a new lesbo crush these days -- on Anette Norberg, skip of the Swedish Women's Olympic Curling Team who recently defeated Canada for the gold medal in Vancouver. Here's why . . . .

She's in the hack. Her head is down as she prepares for her throw. Then, all of a sudden, she raises her head. Her intense blue eyes snap into "lock and load" position with focused, laser-like concentration. Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries starts to play . . . DA-da, da-da-da-DA-da! She glides forward on the ice and releases the Rock of Vengeance.

Anette Norberg is the Valkyrie Ice Queen of my heart. She is the relentless and merciless slayer of curlers who have been chosen by the Gods to fall to her awesome power. Ravens hover about her as she fulfills her destiny as Goddess of the Roaring Game, She Who Rules the Pebbled Ice.

Yes, Canadians take curling seriously. Why do you ask?

  3. Love it! I too have a crush on an athlete who has that smoky stare while looking down his nose with the bill of his baseball cap just above his gorgeous brown eyes. Oh, Andy Pettitte of the NY Yankees can park his shoes under my bed any night of the week, that my husband is on a business trip of course ; )

  5. it had to kill canada to lose the gold to her in curling. just before we were transferred back to the states, i enrolled for curling lessons which i dropped as soon as i knew we were leaving. not much of a chance to continue my curling lessons here! i still wish we had stayed in canada for so many reasons, curling being just one!

  6. Of course you have a crush on a viking woman ; ) I'm a heterosexual, but if Cate Blanchett decided she was sick of men (ha!ha!) and wanted to be with a woman, well.....I think it's healthy to have crushes both on our same gender and the other one. So here's to dreaming differently ; )

  8. Ha ha... nothing lesbo about it... wasn't that girl just a total pro, cute, and swedish meatball solid... a babe o' blue steel... in fact, the whole olympics seems like a blur of attractive, well made up, gorgeous people... must have been CTV's Entertainment Tonight style coverage - missed the CBCs calm, quieter ways...

  14. heehee I admit I only discovered Curling back in 2006... we don't have it as a sport here in SA. But I truly find the focus and concentration fascinating and have enjoyed watching it this year!

  15. Hmmm...I'm wondering if my husband is secretly Canadian. He was born near the border, after all. ;)

    He loves curling.

Me? I'll be honest. I don't understand it at all. LOL

But she is a hottie, I'll give you that! :D
