My Rare One likes to go to Maui every 5 years when she reaches a significant birthday milestone. "Birthdays are painless in Hawaii," she says. We stayed in a condo hotel in Kihei and drove around the island enjoying Maui's sun, sand, surf, sightseeing and shopping. We also spent a few days visiting friends in Honolulu on the island of O'ahu.
The weather was a beautiful 25-30˚C (80-85˚F) with only a couple of rain showers while we were there. Warm breezes, sunny days, blue skies. This is what we saw from our patio window --
We arrived home in Edmonton to -20˚C (-4˚F) and a white blanket of snow. This is now our view from our frosty kitchen window -- and yes, that's our labyrinth peeking through the snow. Reality check, LOL!

I would have just stayed in Maui! Snow and cold weather is not a fun thing to come home to!
ReplyDeleteOuch--that's got to be a bumpy landing, transition from 80 degrees and sun to -20 & snow. Hopefully the warm memories will carry you through the winter!

And the scene outside your window is quite pretty, with the snow hanging on the tree limbs and all. :0)

ReplyDeleteI bet colonoscopies are painful in Hawaii. And root canals. Not that I'm pain focused lately or anything. That's what happens when you go away and leave us all heartbroken.

ReplyDeleteoh yeah! teddy had her eyes done again while you were gone! they won't admit it but i think they botched the first operation. so we are sleeping on the garden room floor and having thanksgiving dinner on the garden room floor. no steps and the cone of shame until at least next monday. we take her out for a 2 hour car ride each day just to get her out of the house. she gets 2 hamburger patties from mcdonalds. i think she would wear the cone forever if she could keep getting them!
