Edmonton Tarot: The World (XXI)
Interpretation: The World is the final card in the Major Arcana. On a spiritual level, it denotes wholeness, balance and integration. All the wisdom lessons learned from the preceding cards culminate in this card. It brings new consciousness and awareness. On a more mundane level, The World card represents triumph, success and deserved rewards. On any level, this is a card of completion -- the reader has achieved what he or she has been seeking and striving to attain. A major cycle of the person's destiny is successfully concluded.
Image: The traditional image for The World card is a circular wreath with the Divine Feminine dancing inside. I have chosen for its Edmonton equivalent this mural of an aboriginal round dance. The circle contains the sacred medicine wheel and an eagle feather. Drummers provide the rhythmic heartbeat for the dance of life.
This mural is located on a building in Edmonton's inner city (corner of 107 Avenue and 95 Street) which is the area populated by our urban poor and homeless. It was painted by local artist Kris Friesen. The mural honours the founder of Boyle Street Community Services, an agency providing programs and services to those who are marginalized. May all who struggle find the wholeness and success represented by The World card!

ReplyDeleteI have loved your tarot postings. The art you chose was very interesting. I did a reading last night and thought of several of your selections as I turned my own cards.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this. Oma Linda and the flying monkeys....
Fabulous! My favourite one so far. Will you be blogging about this particular artist's work? Mural painters always astonish me.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could get that card!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo you took to match up with the card.
ReplyDeleteOh that mural is great to go with the card!
ReplyDeleteGreat representation! I have really enjoyed this series. And I second the thought - may all who struggle find wholeness and success!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely illustration for the world. I'm hating to see your clever and articulate series end. Now make a deck or publish an ebook!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great correlation between the card's meaning and the mural. Triumph, success, and rewards...now that sounds like a great card to have show up.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this mural. You live in such a beautiful place.

No, no, I don't want it to be over! Say it isn't so!
ReplyDeleteA nice interpretation..I must take out my old Tarot card deck and do a spread for myself.
ReplyDeleteThat painting is really nice.
Wait, so there's no negative connotation with "The World"?
ReplyDeleteSo if I get it upside down it doesn't mean my world is ending or something?
That mural is stunning. The World card is a card I don't often get/pull. I guess my work isn't quite "done" yet! Thanks for sharing this..
ReplyDeleteThis mural is amazing! What a perfect conclusion. I hope to conclude my destiny before the end of my life (if I can figure out exactly what it is).
ReplyDeleteMy Emmett eats an indoor cat formula. I will have to take a look at the ingredients and maybe try changing the stinky food. He seems to have a chicken allergy and loses fur when he eats chicken. I got a special kitty in this one!
Love the mural, especially knowing the meaning behind it.
ReplyDeletesuper! :)
ReplyDeletewhen in vancouver, take time to visit the native education centre in east van, great way to meet friendly, new folks and learn from the source :)

ReplyDeleteLove the mural and love your words: May all who struggle find wholeness.
