Welcome to the single greatest song ever written about the legal system! And it's fun too -- if you love jazzy jive, you'll love this classic song!
Good morning, Judge, why d'you look so mean, sir?
And, Mr. Judge, what can the charges be?
If there's been trouble, I will plead not guilty --
It must be someone else, cuz y'know it can't be me!
By some strange twist of dark fate, I happen to know an ungodly number of lawyers and judges, so I'm sending this song out to them. Keep the wheels of justice grinding, everyone!
I have the original version of this song by Wynonie Harris. It's always been such a classic!
ReplyDeleteA great way to begin Monday morning. You always make my day.
ReplyDeleteMary
You know a lot of lawyers and judges? When do we start the crime spree?
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that outside of "Breaking the Law" which is a close technicality, I don't know any songs about the legal system. So this automatically jumps to being the best one I know.
ReplyDeleteWhat a catchy tune! You can't help tap-tap-tapping along to it. And it's going to be stuck in my head all day long. No doubt about that.
ReplyDeleteNow you've done it ... guess what tune I'll be humming all week!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteToe-tapping music! Great way to start the week! :o)
ReplyDeleteKnowing judges & lawyers must mean you have a "Get Out of Jail Free" card....
I know a few lawyers too... awfully resourceful and awfully boring too :)
ReplyDeleteTotally funky! I defy any human person to listen to this and NOT point their index fingers and sway them to and fro! Fun. My 2 yr old is even beoogey-ing!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I love jazzy music and it's great hearing silly lyrics to it!
ReplyDeleteYou know a ton of lawyers and judges? I'm so sorry to hear that. We know one and that's already way more than enough. Oh, and fantastic song.
ReplyDeletegood tune! and a fun video!.
ReplyDeleteI love Swing and wish I could have lived during that era. The Big Bands, the dancing, the fashion and the hair styles. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat was actually quite funny and upbeat.
ReplyDeletethat was so good, lol,
ReplyDeleteHahaha those defendants look far too cheery :P
ReplyDeleteholy crap..that's one of about a dozen songs my mother used to sing to me when I was little.. I know I haven't thought of that song since I was 8-9...wow
ReplyDeleteThank God for lawyers. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteI'll be swinging through the day thanks to you :-)
ReplyDeleteDamn, I use to dance like that.
ReplyDeleteToday you had better hold up your hands and hope you don't get shot before you can appear to a judge.
Great song to start the morning with.
thanks
the Ol'Buzzard
Great video. Makes me wish I had learned how to dance.
ReplyDeleteWe have two attorneys on our board at work, and both of them can be a major pain in the ass. The board president and my boss agreed that when their terms are up, no more!
ReplyDeleteWell that's jaunty!
ReplyDeleteI don't know any lawyers/judges, but I kind of once maybe used to like a little bit "Lawyers in Love" by Jackson Browne.
Cool song!
ReplyDeleteThe court's in session, and here comes the judge!!
ReplyDeleteThis was great. I'm ready to do the Charleston in court.
ReplyDeleteI've known lots of nice, honest lawyers, and I'm related to one slimebag judge.
Never heard of this song before! It's excellent! You got me dancing ;o)
ReplyDeleteI love quoting laugh in...
ReplyDeleteHERE COMES DA JUDGE, HERE COMES DA JUDGE.
Which is better than knowing a bunch of social workers.
ReplyDeleteFather Nature's Corner
Absolutely love this! Let's hear it for law and order!
