Pin-Up Gods -- Whaaaaaat?

Since Valentines Day is this week, I thought it would be a fitting time to post this delightful calendar of Pin-Up Gods for your (*ahem*) spiritual development.

Times aren't what they used to be on Mount Olympus and these days the Gods are feeling pretty neglected. Worshippers are few and far between, except for a few stray Pagans here and there. So the Gods have decided that some kind of marketing campaign is in order to get them back to their glory days.

And what sells? Sex sells! Hence, this calendar.

Need I remind you that the Gods of Mount Olympus embody and enjoy every sexual orientation under the sun? So this calendar really is for everybody!

Fittingly, this is February's pin-up boy --

This clever Dionysus one is my fave, LOL --

The artist is Natasha Sweitzer, who posts on DeviantArt as TheEndOfGrey and sells on Etsy as HelloGround (alas, these calendars are now sold out).

Special thanks to Magaly of Magaly Guerrero for sending me this idea!

  1. When the Gods of Mount Olympus have sold themselves out, then there is truly no hope left. And I'm not sure, but I'm 90% certain that Hermes and Zeus have snuck in my room at night in disguise.

  2. Excellent! Considering all that is naughty in Greek Mythology, this is truly a one of a kind calendar.

  3. when can we mount Olympus or when can Olympus mount us? :)
    Hephaestus seems especially naughty!

  4. ye gods, they are all gay men! I'm not even gay, and yet something goes PING upon viewing this calendar. I can see some of them in leather...some of them in animal costumes...and dare I say most of them have visited mistress maddie frequently!

I also like how the greek and roman names have been included. my fave is hermes.

  6. Hercules has a large anvil, but I'm all about the Bacchus.

  7. D'oh! (Smacks forehead) I suddenly realized why anything to do with love and sex often has Eros in the title!

  8. These are incredible... even if they ARE a bunch of sell-outs.

  9. Oh this is great. The artist is so talented.

  10. Sexuality and sacrilege -- how can I not love this?

Some of these gods have rather odd combinations of portfolios. The sea, earthquakes, and horses? The underworld and wealth? Maybe you really can take it with you.....

    I am still smiling :)

  12. Every time I wanted to choose one to say that it was the one I loved best, I scrolled down to the next one and wanted to choose that one. Still, Poseidon using his trident for pole dancing had me rolling.

I just knew you'd frame this as the total hoot it's meant to be. With a hint of reality sprinkled into it.

  13. These are all so good. I see slobber all over the place from the guys. You may have to be known for the gal with the "wet pages." I was going to say posts but that would have gotten thrown out of Blogger. These really are so cute. SMH The Gods posing as pin-ups.

  15. What's a guy (or a god) gotta do to earn a buck these days? Sell it, mister!

Looking forward to the equal time post...

  16. Why in the world is Hypnos the May pinup? Winter is for sleeping. May is for being outside after 16 months of unending winter.

Kronos is very clever, but I think I like Poseidon the best.

  23. I could see them on stage dancing..."To you sexy thing"
    Coffee is on

  24. Bloody brilliant - love Pan. Now has someone done one of the goddesses - after all turn about....

  25. I'll take one Vulcan for each month of the year please. He's my favorite. This sure beats a Hallmark calendar!

  30. These are wonderful!! I also enjoyed Dionysus because of the wine! I would totally hang a calendar like this one. Thank you for sharing these.

  31. OMG, the poses and expressions on all these are priceless, but Hermes "Hey, girl." look is the absolute best. I am dying over here. :D

  32. Why not? Makes as much sense as the other religions. Gods that drink, brawl, have sex and don't give a fuck sound like my kind of deities.
Hanging out with Dionysus and Pan sounds like fun.

  33. Dang, who knew the gods were so hot? I mean, Eros I should have guessed, but Zeus? At his age? Wow!

  34. Those are terrific, but I personally prefer goddesses. Can I have some of those please? But thanks for using one of my old photos!

  35. Interesting - reminds of the many words that came from these god names. So I guess there were no obese gods?

  36. So I guess there were no obese gods?

Well, the ancient Greeks were very into athletics and physical fitness.

The same artist has done a series on Norse goddesses (scroll down a bit).

  37. Warning: this is the geek talking, but a geek that knows Greek mythology. They all look far too effeminate. Zeus very rarely dabbled into homosexuality (only with Ganymede unless I am mistaken), but I don't think he, or any other Olympians, would be so effeminate, regardless of their sexual preferences. Greek gods and heroes, straight or gay, were all macho.

  38. Hahha I love the stuff people come up with. Dionysus, God of wine, fertility and theater! He sounds like a fun guy!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ooh, difficult choice. think it will have to be Hephaestus

  40. These are so good! LOL! I love them! LOL! Natasha is a great artist!!!

  41. The artist did a great job! These are really funny. I like Hades channeling Marilyn Monroe!
