Hurray for Writers!

I know that many of you bloggers out there are also authors --
emerging, established, yet to be discovered,
published, or not published but working on it!

So, in this month of NaNoWriMo
(National Novel Writing Month),
here's my meme tribute to writers everywhere!

Don't be afraid to learn from the Great Writers of the world.
They have much wisdom to impart to you.

You writers work your fingers to the bone
realizing your literary vision of genius!

Alas, however, as every writer knows,
there are dry periods as well.

But as hard as writing is, there is an
even greater terror down the road . . .
dealing with editors!

However, editors have their own problems too
and must be careful not to go overboard
in their editorial zeal --

Even when writers reach the Promised Land of publication,
they must then worry about promotion and book sales.

So here's a handy tip to help you through it!

Well, at least we won't be bothered
this month here in the blogosphere
by Her Royal Highness the Cat.

She's doing NaNoWriMo too!

HRH says her book is some kind of tell-all exposé
about me and life at She Who Seeks blog.

Ha ha, how silly!
[nervous laughter]

    It took me a minute.
    It's early.

  2. I started a book more than 20 years ago... it’s still started.

  3. Lol. I have a job to manage a blog let alone write a book.

  4. Page Turner is a perfect novelist's name! I do envy writers who come up with amazing stories. Love these memes! Can you imagine if our pets could write books about their people?!

  5. I'd do what that dog does if I was an editor!

  6. Writing would be a lot easier if you could just put words on paper and not have to worry about punctuation, spelling, and sentence structure.

  7. Well I can't wait for HRH's book to materialize.

  8. Thank you so much. You have persuaded me not to write a novel! But I would read any and every novel written by you.

  9. ...and yet there stories out there that make you scratch your head and wonder, how in the heck did this person get published?

  10. So funny. Leo Tolstoy was funny. The name Page Turner got me thinking about all the names that I came in contact with when I was working at the lab. Some like Crystal Clear, Thomas Pain, and Crystal Waters. Parents can be so cruel.

  11. That was fun, friend D :) I liked "Page Turner" (although have never read her) … and the typing cat is familiar :) Theo Thunderbutt likes to "type" with his whole furry body at times :) Much love, cat.

  12. Yes to the Nanowrimo! I'm 8k words into this year's effort! (Only 42k to go...)

  13. I have a real problem with writing. Miss Firth, my English teacher, was in the habit of saying "Write what you know!" Unfortunately I don't know much......

  14. The idea of writing a book is daunting - I am full of admiration for those that do.

  15. Oh my gosh. Loved these. Especially bloody keys. That's what I feel like sometimes when I've gone mental - especially about politics.

  16. Some very funny stuff. I never actually thought of writing a book. Good luck to those who are doing so.

  17. Will HRH's novel be entitled "Blood On The Keyboard"? Please do remind her to spell my name correctly on the acknowledgments page....

    ReplyDelete
  18. I use Twitter to get the word out there for mine.

  19. @ Tundra Bunny -- Oh, so YOU'RE the whistleblower who's been providing her with even more INSIDE DIRT. I should have known.

  20. I have a book or two in me...ha! But who would read them?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ohhhh yes!
Three of my friends are doing the challenge. Fun!
    And the Twilight meme? Priceless.

    XoXo

  22. Do you know how many bookS I have written? They are all drivel. I can't find whatever it is to make me an author. I right captions, gags, bits and rants from my brain.

  23. I'm sure the expose will be riveting!! This was such a fun read-too darn cute. Have a great day!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'll read it!! Just get it published and i'll read it. So excited for you.

  25. It's not necessarily the funniest, but I think I like the third picture from the top the best, because it's so true.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wonderful. I shall have to steal some of these.

    ReplyDelete
  27. When HRH is finished we will all know the truth! There will be stories of near starvation, unusable toilet facilities, abandonment, and nothing to sleep on but cold, hard, keyboards. We will all know the horrific details when she is done. IF she can get it published.
Fortunately for me I have no such ambitions and am content to read the musings of others.

  28. All very funny. And it reminds me that I haven't published one book yet, apart from my thesis.

  29. HAHA! So funny :) I tried writing a book and realized I just don't have the patience for it. I could do articles. That's as far as my attention span will go.

I do hope HRH writes that book ;)

  30. I laughed all the way through this, Debra! Is HRH taking preorders??? Sign me up!

  31. I could definitely relate to the vampire/writer. These were all good, but my favorite was Page Turner! It's always fun to come here, Debra!

  32. Haha loved them all but that Amazon meme made me laugh even harder.

  33. I am not a writer and don't even try but I have a friend who is an amazing writer! Kudos to all the writers out there!
Also Page Turner haha. That's as good as my Jr. High Science teacher, Mr. Laser.

  34. Hey now! Some of us are committed tea drinkers. :D

I'm unofficially doing NaNoWriMo. The idea for the next book won't leave me alone.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh, goodness! I've just laughed until my tummy heart. How I love this.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Love it! Oh, I have ideas, file drawers full of poetry and the beginnings of plays and stories. Thankfully our local paper accepts poetry and I can get one published there from time to time. It does make one feel good to see their work in print. I hope you are enjoying the change of seasons where you are.

  37. Yes we are all authors! Keep writing everyone of us - especially you my dear ! xoxo

  38. Page Turner is Tina Turner's real name. You can only write a book if you start writing.
