Who isn't attracted by a
beautifully-decorated Christmas tree?
But for cats, Christmas trees are irresistible
in a whole different way.
Christmas trees bring out the criminals in them.
Even when cats are little angels,
they are little devils.
Predictably, of course, consumer culture
has to cash in on this phenomenon.
But don't worry! You need not
have a tree like this to thwart a cat!
You simply have to co-opt the furry little menaces!
And just for the record, dogs are
not necessarily trustworthy around trees either!
I was very lucky that Her Royal Highness
always left my Christmas tree alone.
In her 17 years with me, she never tried
to climb it and only ever broke
one Christmas ornament.
Hahahahaha
ReplyDeleteThe fuck the system and the kitty tree are the best!
I’ve never had a kitty and I didn’t know they loved to destroy xmas trees! It makes sense though. It should look like an amusing park to them!
XoXo
these are good ones; LOVE the black cat tree with the "twinkle" lights!
ReplyDeleteGreat post I am still laughing. Thanks for the chuckle.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this! We've only had a few ornaments broken by inquisitive cats over the years. Small price to pay! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteI love the bare Christmas tree, that's hilarious...we are lucky, our cats don't bother with the tree, but we do have to make sure the little ornaments aren't too close to the ground because they love to paw at those. We learned the hard way to make sure we never have breakable ornaments!
ReplyDeleteBy the way Debra, in case I can't get to my comments in time, you asked about the shopping. I basically travel to the closest big town and hit all of the stores in that town systematically. I check the flyers first and then go from store to store to get the cheapest prices. Typically it's anywhere from 8-12 stores depending on the sales for that day. That's why it takes forever. But it's worth it because I do save a lot of money on groceries. I also save on gas because I only have to do that once a month - or in this insane case, once every 6 weeks!!! :)
Debra - there are loads of videos on YouTube - this one for a start: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEUDvTvtUe8
ReplyDeleteCats are awesome. My current cat leaves the tree mostly alone. She just likes to sit under it. This was not so true if my past cats.
ReplyDeleteThey do think we put them up for them, don't they?
ReplyDeleteBecause she had excellent manners.
ReplyDeleteOne of our cats ate the tinsel, and then it appeared from her other end like a second tail, but covered in shit.
ReplyDeleteIt yet another thing i have in common with cats....we both like the balls.
ReplyDeleteNightmares! I have nightmares about everyone of those memes and the Demon Duo. All I can see happening is the tree on its side; ornaments everywhere; kitties looking pleased - "we took care of the intruder bush for you".
ReplyDeleteHa! Love the "fuck the system one", but that's pretty much a cat's whole point of view, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHello Debra, My favorite was the cat-proof tree, although the all-cat tree came in a close second!
ReplyDelete--Jim
Thank the Goddess I don't have these problems. I stole one, your welcome.
ReplyDeleteLol. My husband’s grandparents had a black cat which climbed the tree and jumped on the blinds, always managing to cut off another whisker. She gave up when they were all cut off. Guess she wanted a trim for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHRH was truly a Princess among felines. My cat used to play with the bottom ornaments but were never tree climbers.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh way too funny. Love the cat tree in black.
ReplyDeleteOurs just used to attack the ornaments ....
ReplyDeleteOur cats have never damaged the tree. And they don't knock stuff off counters either.
ReplyDeleteDomino has been overall pretty good with our Christmas trees so far. He did play with the baubbles a lot back in 2015 and I think he did enjoy then the natural smell of a real Christmas tree in the house.
ReplyDeleteI've always had to secure my trees to the wall to prevent complete destruction :)
ReplyDeleteIt took me a minute to find the cat in the tree. But once you see it, it sticks out like a sore thumb.
ReplyDeleteDogs are so lame.
ReplyDeleteA reason my mom has it ornament free
ReplyDeleteLOL.....hard to pick a favorite one. Back in the day when we had cats, we used 3 heavy cement blocks to attach the tree stand to. We did this after being awoken one night when the cat/s climbed up the tree and fell over with a crash.
ReplyDeleteWhat a well mannered cat HRH must have been! These memes bring back many childhood holiday memories for me with the feline family members we had over the years.
ReplyDeleteYeah, we've had very little trouble with our cats and our trees. But we do not put much on those bottom branches...just in case ;)
ReplyDeleteConsuelo came home in time to take her spout under the tree!
ReplyDeleteLuckily, our cats don't bother with it!
Thanks for the hearty laugh this chilly Saturday morning, Debra! You can't go wrong with cats and trees! I remember my middle sister Donnie looking at the Christmas tree like that kitty seeing its first one. She would lie under our tree gazing up at it. She was doing that the Christmas I was in grade 1. Dad came home with bottles of Coke to surprise us on Christmas Eve., a rare treat when we were little. He called out, "Coke," and Donnie, who loves Coke to this day ran for the kitchen. Her long ringlets caught in the tree and she pulled the whole tree down, like the dog with the fainting tree. Thank you for reminding me of a favorite Christmas memory. All the best to you and your Rare One!
ReplyDeleteFuck this system! :)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter adopted two young cat siblings not long ago. She decided not to put up a tree this year because of the young male who is so sweet but so mischievous. She says she'll figure out how to bolt it to the wall next year!
ReplyDeleteI have been very fortunate that none of my cats have beeb Christmas tree destroyers..I've heard lots of stories..Love the little black lit up cat..Too cute..Cute post!!
ReplyDeleteOur cat is called Angel but has never paid our tree(s) any attention except for it to be a convenient place to sleep under.
ReplyDeleteThe bare Christmas tree! HAHAHA The cat looks so pissed off with that :)
ReplyDeleteLucky for us, the two cats we have now show absolutely no interest in the tree!
What a cute collection of kitty funnies.
ReplyDeleteOur last three cats (the orange trio!) only loved to sleep under the tree....thank you baby Jesus!
That is the coolest tree topper EVER!
ReplyDeleteHilarious and so true! Funny our cats always like sleeping under the tree too. We have had our challenges over the years. This is why we have a wire coat hanger around our tree and it is attached to the back of the TV armoire to prevent tree cat-astrophes!
ReplyDeleteI had two cats but can't remember when if ever they did a mayhem to the trees.
ReplyDeleteThese are hilarious! I love the young kitten seeing the tree for the first time - look at those dilated pupils! Actually, they are all funny. :-)
ReplyDeletehahahaaha.......................
ReplyDeleteoh that was HILARIOUS dear Debra
enjoyed each one thoroughly :)))
hope you are not being modest about your highness lol and she deserves this praise :)
Oh my, now these are funny. I think it's strange how cats climb Christmas trees but you rarely see them climb trees outside. Something about it in the house I suppose and the fact a human can reach them if they need rescuing. My daughter had to brace her tree to the wall. I would have just given up and just put up a bare tree and let them have a Merry Christmas. Easy for me to say, I don't have any cats.
ReplyDeleteThe dog one gets me every time i see it.
ReplyDeletewhen I first got Dexter he went after the tree with a vengeance.that's when he learned of the evil of spray bottle full of water..took care of that real fast..it got to the point that I didn't even have to use the spray bottle..all I had to do was reach for it and he'd run down the hall way and get under the bed..sigh* ..I miss that.
ReplyDeleteI was expecting the cat to write this . . .
ReplyDeleteHRH was a good kitty!!! Got to love our sneaky animals! LOL! Big Hugs!
