The Joy of Masks

  1. I can understand the last one. Inhibiting the virus is the main reason for wearing a mask, of course, but as an older white guy, it also serves as a signal that I'm not a Trumpanzee.

Contraception? The behavior of some people during this crisis has just strengthened my conviction that in certain cases abortion should be made retroactive.

  2. So many hilarious masks out there (as well as absurd ones). I love the fact that they're required by law here. It makes it so much easier. Locals are the best at respecting the rules; many tourists... not so much. But the law is being enforced. I want to buy so many masks I see and I want to have my own custom printed!

  3. Hahaha
That last one is my motivation. Seriously.
The doggie demonstrating how to wear a mask is priceless! So cute!
Maddie also showed some masks that really made me want to just go online and buy some. I promise Tom of Finland had nothing to do with it... LOL

    XOXO

  5. I hate them because they fog up my glasses something terrible, but I still wear them everywhere.

  6. Call me paranoid but when I go grocery shopping I wear two: One for me and one for the idiots who might not be wearing one.

  9. Good ones. It defies logic but then, here in looneyville, much defies logic.

  10. Yesterday I went into work for a few hours and a co-worker was wearing a mask--it's a requirement in our town. But she pulled hers down onto her chin exposing her mouth and nose.
I asked if she had the Chinoronavirus and she didn't get it. She said she couldn't breathe. I replied that it was funny that the other seven people in the room had no issue and that if she couldn't breathe maybe she should keep herself at home.
    On her chin!

  11. These are very neat pictures. I really have to get myself some cool masks. I have just been wearing the plain ones.

  12. Too many funnies. But not funny. You know.
I see so many wearing them beneath their nose. Hmmmmm....

  13. Dezmond: You can get ones with a flexible metal strip enclosed in the top edge, which enables you to make it fit around the bridge of your nose more closely. I've found that that pretty much eliminates the glasses-fogging problem.

  14. These are all so funny, Debra, but I totally lost it with the Van Gogh!

  15. I love the milk jug guy -- now THAT'S inventiveness! LOL!

  22. Proud Mask wearer, around here mask wearer are consider sheep...A little posting from my blog this week... Well that fine to be consider a sheep. 1. Represents innocent of one self...we all need and feel innocent, so I don't feel any shame or guilt for wearing a mask. 2. Someone tint in fear...no I don't want covid and mostly if I was asymptomatic and spread it around I would feel awful. 3. Sacrifice....I am not willing to be sacrifice 🐑 or go out and bring in the sacrifice 🐑 either. Don't understand why some people think wearing a mask is being a sheep.

  23. The last two a great! I'd seen the milk jug and Van Gogh but none of the others. Nice collection.

  24. I hated wearing a mask at first, but like all things, once you get used to it, it becomes normal.

  25. I love the Grinch mask! I have been absolutely floored by how creative people are getting with masks, especially in the Goth, Retro-Vintage, and Reenacting/Living History communities. I've seen some beautiful creations -- all handmade and decorated.

And then there's the open-weave crocheted mask. OY!

  26. His Lordship and I both laughed about the contraception meme!

  27. Masks are the new plastic six-pack holder. I see cast off ones at the beach quite often. :(

    ReplyDelete
  28. With apologies to Van Gough, he has the unknowing best.

    ReplyDelete
  29. There were some really funny ones in there! Lol'd at Van Gogh, the milk jug mask, well, lots of them. The Grinch one, with 'Ew, People' made me think of Alexis on Schitt's Creek, 'Ew, David!'

    Cheers!

  30. I made a mask out of my (clean) underwear. Tanya was not impressed.
The contraception one was right on - too many people wear them off nose.

  31. I haven't been out much (social distancing) but I am dying to whip out my mask made with this gorgeous golden colored fabric. Apart from being such a huge safety measure, masks are such fireee accessories! Loved the memes as usual!

  32. Good one's, I need to find something besides plain and boring.

    ReplyDelete
  33. These were great..Nice to have some new material...altho not so nice reason..Hope you are back to stay..

  34. Hello Debra, I somehow forgot to press enter! I liked the Grinch one. Some people are too fake-cheery to show how well they are holding up. A little natural grumpiness is easier to bear!

  35. I hate wearing it so much that it keeps me from lingering in the aisles of Save On.

  36. This was a great post. The flag one was great. also liked the one about what face masks say about someone. Whenever I buy something at stores with cash, I ask the cashier to put my change in a plastic bag. One recently sau=id he felt like he was being robbed and I said that it's weird ot be weraing a face covering when you're going to obtain money and not steal it.

  37. Ha. I like Infidel's comment as much as these mask memes. Agree - abortion should be made retroactive in some cases.
Glad to see you back, Debra.
HRH has been getting a bit extra feisty in your absence.
    Cheers,
    Robyn

  38. So many good ones but that contraception one will stick in my mind for sure! C'mon people! Haha

  39. @ Rawknrobyn -- Yes, I'm sorry HRH made a nuisance of herself with you. But she is uncontrollable!

  40. LOL Debra at the Van Gogh funny...and the blonde one!

  41. I love that something absolutely necessary but not comfortable to wear has become the subject of humour. Gotta laugh, eh? 😁

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, very good Debra! I love the all specially = The Way, New Bra, and WWWR (that one needs to be posted at every single store everywhere!).

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh these are all great!!
    Thanks for the chuckles <3

  44. These are fantastic! "War on Christmas" lol. Plus, I need a kilt mask, haha.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Welcome back with a bang!!! Love the flag, but really laughed at the blonde. Oops. Should I have been offended😜

    ReplyDelete
  46. No one noticed masks were one of the greatest things the human race had made.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I got a few chuckles out of this. My wife has now made and donated around four hundred masks. I am quite amazed at how quickly it has become part of daily wear when we are in situations that require one. I have four and always keep two in the glove compartment of the car and reach for one routinely before getting out of the vehicle.

  48. I've been spooked by the thought of that claustrophobic milk carton mask since I first saw it here a couple of days ago.

    ReplyDelete
  49. So many funny mass, as a told a pal, the second one really needs a comma after the "EW", lol.

    ReplyDelete
  50. OMG! These are hilarious! I love the kilt one and the last one!

  51. The milk jug mask is the best. When the milk runs out here, it will be my next project.

  52. My life hasn't changed that much during the pandemic; except we don't eat out at a nice restaurant twice a month and we wear a face mask when we go out to shop. Other than that - it's the same.

I am the only one now going around with homemade tied (not over the ear) masks all in gay colors and fancy design.
SO much better than the bland black/blue/white surgical types.

  55. Hi! Long time!

I love, love, love all the above, but gotta go with Sarge the Destroyer as favorite!
