Tonight Krampus roams the streets,
looking for naughty children.
In Germanic tradition,
he is Santa's evil twin,
meting out punishment.
Our modern society has retained the "good twin" Santa,
but ditched the "evil twin" Krampus.
However, Krampus is making
a bit of a comeback
in the last few years!
But really, aren't Santa and Krampus
just two sides of the same
No, no, no, enough of such twisted thoughts!
Let's eat some Krampus cookies instead! Yay!
I thought the entire idea was very upsetting until I saw the cookies!
ReplyDeleteoh no...i bet kurentovenja is canceled this year.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of Krampus before, so tonight, I do hope that every child firmly lock their doors and preferably stay off the streets too.
ReplyDeleteLol. Glad we don’t have that figure this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI always thought there was something off about Satan, uh Santa..... oh well, enjoy Kampusnacht and don't end up in the Krankenhaus, eh?
ReplyDeleteI haven't even bought Christmas cards, or dragged out the lights or started making cookies or bought/ordered gifts for a few special people and now I'm behind on Krampus celebrations too! St nick on Dec. 6th, And here in New Mexico, Our Lady of Guadalupe is Dec 14th, It's enough to give me the Cramps. Can't wait till New Year!
ReplyDeleteOne of the bright spots of my morning,
ReplyDeleteI've read about that before, talk about something to scare the crap out of kids!!
ReplyDeletethe cookies are VERY clever! please, krampus, remove ALL the dump crime family members from the white house and take them to your underworld tonight!
ReplyDeleteThose Krampus cookies! They make me want to take up baking again!
ReplyDelete--Jim
Wait a minute--if the Krampus is evil, why does he want to punish the wicked children? He should be rewarding them and beating and taking away the good children instead! --Jim
ReplyDeleteYing and yang
ReplyDeleteIf he collects naughty children he can start in DC with the biggest child ever....and his family.......
ReplyDeleteIf there was any year made for Krampus, 2020 is it. Be afraid, be very afraid!
ReplyDeleteHow did I not know about Krampus before now!! Better than the Santa and coal threat! I wonder if it will work on 50 year old children??
ReplyDeleteSo long as there are cookies, it's cool.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he does 74-year-old toddlers.
Send him to Washington...without cookies!!
ReplyDeleteI like the Krampus cookies.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Krampus. Interesting. Is he made of cheese?
ReplyDeleteYou are too clever by half!! Krampus movie is darn scary.
ReplyDeleteKrampus is darn scary. I am incredibly good, so I am safe.
ReplyDeletei've got a few wicked kids in my neighborhood i hope krampus comes for.

Krampus makes Zwarte Piet look like Papa Smurf!
ReplyDeleteWe are not doing Grampus this year. We have a real live one. It will take all we can do. It is too scary. I support this observance. But not doing it this year.
ReplyDeleteCookies! I am the cookie monster. We never did the Santa thing with our kids. No point in telling them that if they're bad they won't get a present. They always did something bad and got their presents anyway.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
LOL- You devil woman, you! lol. Have a wonderful nigh, Debra. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteOne of my friend got married on Krampushnachts and those cookies look so yummy.
ReplyDeleteStay Safe and Coffee is on
OMG!!! I love this post!!! Krampus is the "man" I have a Krampus cabochon on my website. I cracked up at some of these especially keeping christmas traditional. You made my day.
ReplyDeleteI will try to find Krampus's fitness routine. I mean, did you see those muscles?! I wonder if he gets any cookies...
ReplyDeleteI am still here this morning. The Krampus did not haul me away last night. In a way this is a disappointment. Perhaps I will do better with the 13 Yule Lads. I would rather see Iceland than Austria anyway.
ReplyDeleteA fun fact about gingerbread:
ReplyDeleteOne of the associations to gingerbread men is they were thought of a sort of voodoo doll that in Europe the making of such were banned to discourage witchcraft.
holyfuckme
ReplyDeleteHAHA! Loved these, especially the cookies. I can just imagine the expression on someone's face if I gave them these cookies during the holidays.
ReplyDeleteHe won't find me that's for sure!!! I'll be hiding out lol! :)
ReplyDeleteOhhh I watched this one Netflix Krampus movie and I was slightly turned on by the hunky Krampus, so I cannot judge your cookies until I have one or two dozen.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's an excuse for cookies.
XOXO
Eek.. how awful to scare little kids like that.
ReplyDeleteBut love those cookies.. I wouldn't mind eating a krumpus or two.
Love those cookies! They should be filled with chile and pepper and all manner of hot spices!
ReplyDeleteKrampus has Pere Fouettard as the French equivalent. Maybe they are two different evil Santa counterparts, maybe they are the same. My theory: they are the evil butcher from that old Saint Nick legend. I have been wanting to write a story about Krampus for ages.
ReplyDeleteA tad bit scary.
ReplyDeleteBut I am a sucker for gingerbread cookies!!
In one of the pics, I had flashbacks of the evil man in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang who whisked the innocent children away.
all blessings to the Krampus who knows the darkness that lurks in the joy of the holiday from hell.
ReplyDeletefor a retired school teacher, Krampus makes Christmas a beloved holiday season.
ReplyDeletethe Ol'Buzzard
Krampus sounds scary lol
ReplyDeletei think the hardest battle is to fight with your own self and defeat evil within you :)
that is Real victory indeed :)
that makes rest so easy !
amazing and amusing post as always precious Debra ,love!
Where do you find these wonderful memes?
ReplyDeleteGerald Brom wrote a really cool novel about the Krampus. I handed my copy of it off, but every time December rolls around, I want to read it again.
ReplyDeleteI'm hiding! LOL! But, I will take the cookies! LOL! Big Hugs!
