apparently this is a thing in Japan too, and it gets translated as “Mundane Halloween.” There are so many photos online and they’re all so good?????

“Person going to work on a windy day"

“Woman who’s having her bangs cut but the hairdresser is nowhere to be found"

"Zookeeper in charge of the pandas"

 copperbadge

This is amazing. I rarely dress for Halloween anymore but I now have like eighteen ideas for Mundane Costumes.

Here are two more:

"Not pregnant lady when someone yield seat to her on subway"

And my favorite

"Person on thermal infrared camera"

"Influencers taking selfies at a gym"

"Starbucks barista working her ass off on Halloween but gotta keep up that smile"

"Person who sits on wet paint"

"Person who's still loading"

"Boyfriend carrying girlfriend's shopping bags"

The possibilities are endless, LOL!

  2. These are actually some of the best I’ve seen. I wonder if Mesón Salvador is hosting a Halloween dinner this year. I may change the way I think about costumes. Really clever! I’ve seen performance artists at a local fair doing the businessmen caught in wind bit. Throw money in their briefcase and they change the pose.

  4. These are great. Now I see myself going as old woman trudging through grass collecting nuts. Old lady staggering about trying to balance while looking at the beautiful sky. Possibilities are endless.

  5. @ Parnassus (Jim) -- You're right, these shots must all be from pre-pandemic parties.

  6. My feeling on a costume is that if you have to explain what you are, it is not much of a costume. This is like lazy teenagers on Halloween who show up at my door dressed as themselves. Some of these folks put a little more thought into their outfit like the wet paint, the thermal infrared camera, and the panda doctor.

I wanna be the "person still in bed".

  13. I've seen two costumes that would fit right in with these: Man who ignored the party guidelines and didn't dress up, and, a woman who wore a mylar mirror and came as whomever was looking at her.
I like the 'still loading' one best.

  16. While the idea of "Mundane Costumes" is fun, I must agree with Lady M that good costumes don't require an explanation. I liked the Panda Nurse and the Infrared Image though!

The best mundane costume I've ever seen was a dog in a hotdog costume accompanied by 3 little kids dressed up as Heinz ketchup, mustard and relish packets! Each kid wore red, green or yellow leotards and toques with their sandwich-board style packets, LOL!

  21. Now those are funny.

I think what would be funnier is my 20 year old daughter dressing abnormally, that is business casual, instead of what she actually dresses in.

  22. I love the sitting on paint one! These are definitely different!
