I love the Addams Family, no matter in which format they appear -- the original New Yorker cartoons by their creator Charles Addams, the TV live-action series, the TV/movie animations, and the several recent live-action movies. Each character is a wonderfully macabre outsider, ready to subvert conventional morality at the drop of a hat.
But I also have a soft spot for her oversexed, swashbuckling husband Gomez!
Needless to say, Her Royal Highness the Cat is a fan as well!
My favourite Addams child is, of course, the delightfully homicidal Wednesday. That's why I'm so happy about the new upcoming 8-episode Netflix series Wednesday which will premiere (fittingly enough) on Wednesday, November 23! Morticia is going to be portrayed by Catherine Zeta-Jones (!), Gomez by Luis Guzmán, and Wednesday by Jenna Ortega.
The series looks terrific, judging from these first two trailers! Half of the episodes are directed by Tim Burton in his signature creepy style.
Anyone else planning on watching?
I, too, love the Addams Family in any form. I’m not so sure about this new one, however. I had been looking forward to it, but I do not feel the same about Cathryn Zeta-Jones. The rest of the cast sound great. Maybe I’ll just have to forget who she really is. Besides, these previews are SO good.

The Addams Family was much "classier" than the Muensters or was that the Munsters? Loved Morticia and Gomez was such a romantic.
ReplyDeleteLooks like my kinda movie. I'll be watching. Snap! Snap!
ReplyDeleteThese are great…I’d forgotten how much I like Morticia!
ReplyDeleteLove some Morticia snark!
ReplyDeleteBack when I taught middle school there was a spate of prank calls to my house around Halloween asking for Morticia. Last name Adams, different spelling but middle schoolers don't care!
ReplyDeleteYep - I plan on watching. It looks like good fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm like you I love any incarnation of The Addams Family especially Morticia darling!

ReplyDeleteI grew up watching the Addams family. And it hasn’t dated. It’s still as good.
ReplyDeleteIf we get it here. I’ll definitely be watching Wednesday
The Addams Family was not a TV show I watched as a kid, but I do remember I liked "The Hilarious House of Frightenstein" hosted by Vincent Price!
ReplyDeleteI will probably watch this. But nothing can compare with my childhood experience of the original. I will be looking for cousin It.
ReplyDelete@ Mike -- Thanks for the link. I like Wednesday's response to "attempted murder," LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm totally watching Wednesday. I love, love, LOVE the original B&W tv series, but Anjelica Houston's Morticia??? Iconic.
ReplyDeleteAnd I wish all men would had Gomez Game.
XOXO
Big Addams Family fan here as well, all incarnations. We just watched the 1991 movie and plan to watch the sequels prior to Halloween :-)

ReplyDeleteLOVE Morticia! She is wickedly fun. And yes, we are definitely planning to watch that series on Netflix! I added to our list. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. It's hard not to love the Addams Family.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Only Tim Burton could make this series dark and perfect.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait. Only one problem, Luis Guzman is all wrong as Gomez. Oh, if we could only find another Raul Julia. Now HE was a sexy Gomez.
I had no idea this was on the horizon; I'll be watching!!
ReplyDeleteOh! I did not there was a WEDNESDAY series coming on. Always loved the Adams family, too.
ReplyDeleteJust watched The Midnight Club on Netflix. You might enjoy it.
Have a wonderful Thursday- xo Diana
oh, oh, oh......I can't wait....hot diggidy dog..
ReplyDeleteLuis Guzman is definitely an interesting choice for Gomez Addams. He's one of my favorite character/everyman actors who plays every part extremely well.
ReplyDeleteI recall both the Munsters and Adams show. Both good.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
I'm already dressed for your funeral. - great line to use on someone.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that a Wednesday series was in winds! I just did a happily creepy dance. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that Tim Burton passed on the chance to direct the early '90s movie. He must regret that and is trying to make up for lost time.
ReplyDeleteNow I'll be singing, 'duddle-e-dut, dut dut" all day!
ReplyDeleteyes, yes, yes, I'm in, I love the Addams family. Love the trailer, especially the swimming pool bit - delicious. I'm sure the new cast will be excellent, but Angelica Houston, Raul Julia and Christina Ricci will always be my favourites.
ReplyDeleteIt does look promising
ReplyDeleteWednesday is definitely on my to-watch list!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I will be watching Wednesday. Anything by Tim Burton, I get excited about!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I loved botht he Addams Familly and the Munsters. Great to see the links.
ReplyDeleteI never really got to see "The Adams Family" on tv because of the television channels that were available where I lived at that time. I was aware of them. I'll venture to say Morticia would have been a favorite character of mine. I loved "I wear all black...your funeral." So funny. Perhaps I'll be able to catch the Netflix series. Thanks for alerting us, Debra!
